Job Summary

Details of Position

Exsportise runs residential English language summer courses combined with Sports for 9- 17 year olds. Our programmes allow students to improve their practical and spoken English by attending structured English lessons as well as engaging in an activity of their choice. The options offered are: Tennis, Golf, Arsenal Football Development, Hockey, Rugby, Basketball, Horse Riding, Music and Dance.

Main Roles (all teachers):
- To prepare and deliver high-quality lessons to the expected standard for A2-C1 level students, i.e. lessons that motivate the class and have variety, pace and challenge all the students in line with the Exsportise ethos (see syllabus).
- To complete administrative duties such as maintaining accurate lesson plans, class profiles, registers and weekly logs of work done.
- To liaise with other teachers and DoS on weekly planning.
- To ensure that student notebooks are up-to-date, work is marked, mistakes have been corrected, and students self-reviews have been completed
- To ensure classroom displays are clear, vibrant, illustrative, and representative of the student's weekly work.
- To take responsibility for the safety, welfare and behaviour of all students during the EFL programme time, being especially vigilant when taking students off-site

Band 1 Teacher:
- Maximum teaching contact time of up to 15 hours per week.
- One excursion or airport duty day on the weekend
- One day off per week, usually either Saturday or Sunday
- Up to 3 hours of prep and admin time per day plus allocated meeting and CPD time.
- You may be buddied up with a Band 2 teacher. Depending on the needs of the students and your experience, your teaching may include taking the entire lesson, or elements of it, or working with certain students who would benefit from additional support.
- You will usually be part of a CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) /Project lesson as well as either a grammar/lexis or skills (reading, speaking, and listening) lesson.
- Depending on the number of EFL students per week, you may be asked to split your time between the EFL department and assisting with the evening entertainment programme.

Band 2 Teacher:
- Maximum teaching contact time of up to 25 hours per week
- Allocated prep and admin time per day plus meeting and CPD time
- No evening social programme work
- One on-site duty day assisting with arrivals/departures (if required), otherwise just extra planning time.
- One day off per week, either Saturdays or Sundays
- You may be allocated a Band 1 teacher as your buddy who may be shadowing and supporting you in some of your lessons. The buddy role may also include observing your Band 1 teacher and providing feedback.
- To write weekly Progress Reports for all students (even if not leaving or if students change programme after just a few days)
- To assist the DoS with Placement Testing and administering exams if required

Additional Duties for all staff:
- To attend daily staff meetings
- On a rota basis to carry out mealtime supervision, wake-up, and bedtime duties
- To follow guidelines as outlined in the Staff and EFL Handbooks and as explained by the Centre Manager / DoS
- To carry out any other reasonable duties, including to help set up / pack up camp

- Teikyo School (Buckinghamshire) - 14/07/24 to 03/08/24 (3 weeks)
- Worth School (West Sussex) - 30/06/24 to 10/08/24 (6 weeks)

Cambridge CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, Trinity CertTESOL, Cambridge CELTYL, BA TEFL, BA TESOL, TEFL Certificate, ESL Certificate, TESOL Certificate , Trinity TEYL, Trinity Joint CertTESOL, Cambridge DELTA, Cambridge DELTA Online, Trinity DipTESOL, Masters MA TESOL, MA TEFL, MA Linguistics, MA, PhD Linguistics

Native level English speaker preferred

Qualifications

- Native / near-native competence in English is mandatory (written and spoken)

- University First degree or equivalent required

- CELTA, Trinity TESOL or Accreditation UK recognised equivalent or PGCE (in English or MFL)

- DELTA, CELTAYL, QTS (primary or secondary) are particularly welcomed

- Minimum of 1-year teaching experience - Previous residential summer school experience and experience of teaching mixed nationality groups is preferred

- Must be eligible to work in the UK (EU citizens need settled/pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme or have a "Frontier Worker Permit" or another work visa. Exsportise cannot support any visa applications.

Salary and Benefits

Band 1 Teacher - £615 per week (£549 + 12.07% holiday pay)

Band 2 Teacher - £700 per week (£624 + 12.07% holiday pay)

Job Summary

As an EFL teacher, your primary responsibility will be to provide excellent English language instruction for 9-17 years old (A2-C1).
