Details of Position
Were looking for fun, hard-working teachers who can make an active contribution to camp life. We want people who can lead a group dance as well as a hands-on science project (note: dancing skills are not necessary; just enthusiasm!)
Camp life isn't easy, and you'll need great time- and classroom management skills to guide students to complete long-term projects while also getting involved with camp activities like hosting campfires and talent shows. Days are long but rewarding, and you'll always have a co-teacher to share the load and a full support staff. On average, you'll teach for five hours a day, and lead a camp activity in the evening every two or three days.
We provide shared accommodation and three meals a day, as well as airport pick up (you will have to provide your transport to the nearest city), paid training online and in-person, and a competitive salary.
This is not an ESL position (please don't send a generic application for the ESL position). You will be teaching in English, but you'll be leading projects on topics like How do books make us happy? or How did ideas spread? We'll try to match your interests and background to our courses, but don't expect to come and teach ESL from a textbook. You'll be getting hands-on with building, digging, creating and contributing to a camp-wide exhibition of work.
Some prior experience of PBL would be beneficial, but is not required. An open mind and the confidence to test and hone your skills in a new setting is more what we're looking for.
If you feel you are up for the challenge, apply now. We'll contact suitable applicants to ask for a CV. You'll also need to provide us with a police background check dated in the last two years.
Working at camp is a challenge, but it's rewarding in so many ways. Many of our teachers both local and foreign return year after year, so you'll always be surrounded by a supportive team.
Priority will be given to teachers who can commit to the full session from July 2nd to August 13th, but a handful of shorter contracts will be available.
To apply, use the TEFL.com application. Please mention your current location and availability in your application. For obvious reasons, only teachers currently in China can be considered for this position.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
