Details of Position
The post will suit a qualified and experienced teacher with a bachelor degree and an ESL qualification such as CELTA, Trinity TESOL etc or a recently qualified teacher looking to gain experience in the field.
The hours of the post are 20 per week from 09:00 to 13:00. Classes might take place on Saturdays as well.
Courses will start on 19th of June 2018 and go on for 6 weeks until 30th July. There will also be additional tasks such as attending staff meetings and partecipate to afternoon activities couple of times per week. Teaching rate is £350 per week. A one-off payment of £50 will be granted as a contribution towards travel expenses.
The principal responsibilities of the post are;
Planning classes and teaching professionally, making use of appropriate teaching methods.
Working within the framework of the syllabus/scheme of any given course and developing course outlines and weekly plans in consultation with other members of staff, including the Director of Studies.
Making appropriate use of course books and supplementing these when necessary with other materials, while following the terms of copyright agreements.
Reflecting on whether your teaching suits the needs, motivation, expectations and ability of your students and adapting your approach accordingly in a principled way.
Setting, marking and evaluating individual class work, homework and tests.
Participating to afternoon activities and/or weekend excursions at least twice per week as per rota sheet.
Monitoring the progress of students and assessing them on a continuous basis.
Getting to know your students as individuals, respecting their cultural sensibilities and assessing their needs and abilities with the aim of guiding them towards their learning goals.
Maintaining a professional relationship with students and adopting a problem-solving approach to dealing with any issues relating to students behavioural and/or discipline problems, in a way that recognizes their cultural differences and challenges to communicate. Getting DoS support at an early stage, before a problem gets out of hand.
Collecting student feedback about the course and college through interviews and written feedback forms. Making sure that feedback is acted upon; either through your actions or that it is passed on to the appropriate people.
