During Contract:
Oversight of Academic Standards:
Ensure that the academic programme delivery across different centres meets the required standards.
Oversee that all relevant classroom documentation is been recorded, filed on time and to industry standard.
Oversee and monitor that lesson delivery is in line with company policy and syllabi. Monitor lesson quality to ensure that teaching is in line with company policies and the syllabus.
Conduct thorough audits and regular spot-checks on classrooms, paperwork and academic environments to ensure they are conducive to high-quality learning and in line with British Council standards.
Provide feedback and support to academic staff in order to maintain the standard of delivery across all centres.
Ensure that academic records, such as student progress reports and assessments, are accurately maintained across all centres.
Provide ongoing advice and guidance to Directors of Studies on best practices, lesson planning, and curriculum delivery to ensure consistent academic standards across centres.
Oversee teacher observations and appraisals, offering constructive feedback and encouraging continuous professional development.
Identify and resolve staff performance issues where necessary.
Oversee, organise and lead CPD (Continuous Professional Development) sessions for teaching staff.
Act as a mentor for teachers, offering advice and helping them troubleshoot challenges they may face in the classroom.
Ensure that CPD sessions for teaching staff are delivered to the highest standard, providing the necessary training and development to support staff growth and maintain academic excellence.
Oversee and advise on student placement testing and grouping, ensuring students are in the appropriate classes for their level.
Deliver DOS training at the pre-course management training weekend in June, and support DOSs with teacher induction and CPD sessions during the summer.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure consistency and quality of the academic programme across centres by performing regular checks, including reviewing lesson plans, student progress, and feedback.
Evaluate and report on the academic progress of students at different centres and offer recommendations for improvements.
Ensure that all academic documentation (attendance, assessments, student feedback) is accurate, up to date and BC inspection compliant.
Communication and Coordination:
Act as a liaison between the academic team at each centre and the central management team, ensuring clear communication of policies, procedures, and goals.
Coordinate with Centre Managers/Director of Studies to address any academic-related issues and ensure that they are resolved quickly and efficiently.
Attend and contribute to regular staff meetings to update the team on progress, challenges, and key developments at each centre.
Emergency Support:
Be on hand to provide immediate support in the event of staff shortages, teacher illness, or emergencies, ensuring continuity of the academic programme.
Step in to cover teaching, managerial or administrative duties where necessary to keep the academic programme running smoothly.
Student Welfare and Safeguarding:
Ensure that safeguarding and welfare procedures are adhered to, with a focus on promoting a safe and supportive environment for students.
Support with the induction and integration of new students, ensuring they feel welcomed and part of the academic programme.
Monitor student progress and address any academic or welfare concerns, working with other staff to ensure all students needs are met.
Crisis Management and Problem Solving:
Deal with any academic-related crises that arise, whether its a staffing issue, a problem with a student, or a challenge with the curriculum.
Quickly find solutions to challenges, keeping the academic programme on track while managing expectations.
Provide cover when necessary for a DOS on their days off or if they are otherwise unavailable (this may involve live-in duties as required).
Travel and On-Site Presence:
Support with the set-up and close-down of each centre as required.
Regularly visit different centres, providing hands-on support and ensuring high standards are maintained at each location.
Work closely with Centre Management Teams to ensure that each centre team is motivated and performing effectively.
Provide regular reports on centre performance, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Travel between centres as required to provide oversight and support, sometimes at short notice.
Overnight stays will often be required (accommodation will be provided).
Post-Contract:
Complete appraisals and provide end-of-contract feedback.

Experience leading a team through a British Council Inspection.
First Aid Certificate (completed within the last three years).
Safeguarding Level 2 qualification.
Experience working with under-18s.
Experience in leading and managing a team.
Experience as a teacher trainer.
Qualifications
TEFLQ diploma in ELT/TESOL as specified by the British Council (see criteria below).
Experience in summer school management or a similar role.
Eligible to work in the UK
Aged 18 or over.
Clear DBS (to be carried out by the company, unless you are already on the Update Service).
