Abbey College Summer School is expanding and is currently looking for residential and non-residential teachers to teach English and also Residential and non-residential Activity Leaders.

We are based within walking distance from the stunning Malvern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our Summer courses start on the 16th June 2024 with the last day being 1st September 2024 (11 weeks). We offer variable length contracts with a preference for candidates who are able to fulfil the full eleven weeks.

Residential contracts include additional leisure activities for students with accommodation and food provided. Residential staff are expected to fully participate in the diverse and inclusive activity programme of city excursions, sport and wellbeing activities along with cultural visits.

The students come from a number of different countries across the globe and are aged between eight and 17.

TEACHING ROLES:

- Ability to prepare exciting and engaging lessons for young learners
- Knowledge of how to adapt resources to your students
- Confidence in classroom management to ensure all students have every opportunity to engage and improve
- Ability to react positively to last-minute changes in a calm, collaborative and professional manner
- Can-do, approachable, positive and friendly attitude
Qualified staff will be available to support you


ACTIVITY ROLES:

- Plan fun activities for groups of students
- Enjoy being with younger people
- Have excellent safety awareness

We have a long list of activities and a number of qualified staff who are able to support you.

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE (Teachers and Activity Organisers)
Native level English speaker preferred
Eligibility to work in UK
Experience of working in a residential summer school environment
Native-speaker level of English
Experience with teenagers

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE (Teachers only)
CELTA/ Trinity TESOL or equivalent as recognized by the British Council or QTS in English/ MFL/ Primary Education

LEGAL
You should provide the contact details of at least 2 referees. Referees will be asked specifically whether there is any reason that you should not be employed in situations where you have responsibility for under 18s.

All staff will also be required to complete online safeguarding training. You will have access to your certificates after each module is complete.
