Details of Position
As an English Language Teacher, you will plan, prepare and deliver the St. Andrews College curriculum to a student body diverse in age, culture, language and ability. Teachers hours are spread over a 42-hour working week. Student contact hours will, on average, be 36 hours per week. Administration (e.g. meetings, updating records of work, etc.) and lesson preparation time, is included within the 42 hours contract week. The dates, days and times may vary according to the needs of the campus.
Lesson guidelines are provided and have been specifically designed to fit the needs of our students and teachers. Lessons are task-based and communicative and integrate 21st Century skills, such as digital literacy, critical thinking and engagement with real-world issues and affairs.
We hold CPD sessions and are dedicated to the development of our staff. We want you to get the most out of your time working with us.
Class sizes are a maximum of 15. Students receive around 15 hours of tuition per week and partake in cultural activities and excursions with the activities staff.
Residential English Teacher
Residential teachers perform the same duties as non-residential teachers. As they are based on campus, their role may involve some pastoral care duties which could include:
Supervising mealtimes. Chaperoning students to and from activities or venues.
Assisting the academic management team in the running of the department.
Running and supervising programmed activities.
Taking additional evening or weekend classes as directed by the Director of Studies/Academic Manager/Senior Teacher.
Going on and supervising programmed excursions.
Senior Teacher
The Senior Teacher is responsible for assisting the Director of Studies in the implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic programme, including the management of the teaching team and their performance. This is a management position and you should therefore expect a demanding workload.
The role incorporates the following:
Ensuring the safety and welfare of all students at all times.
With the other members of the on-campus management team, ensuring that a high-quality, collegiate programme is delivered, following our guidelines, integrating lessons and activities where possible.
Supporting the Director of Studies in the overall management of the academic programme and teaching team, ensuring it is of the highest standard possible, so students derive the maximum benefit from their course.

The Director of Studies
The Director of Studies is responsible for the implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic programme, including the management of the teaching team and their performance. This is a management position and you should therefore expect a demanding workload. We are looking for experienced, flexible and supportive Directors of Studies with good leadership skills, excellent management and interpersonal skills and a high level of computer literacy.
You will lead the academic teams delivery of high-quality, effective and engaging lessons using our bespoke, in-house developed curriculum. You will be responsible for observing, training and supporting teachers of varying degrees of experience and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.

Qualifications
Vary depending on role. Minimum university degree (level 6) + CELTA/Trinity TESOL (or equivalent).
Delta / Trinity DipTESOL (or equivalent) + university degree for a Director of Studies role.
