Job Summary

New College Group is currently recruiting 2019 Summer School Management staff - Centre Managers, Directors of Studies and Activity Managers - for our schools in York, London and Manchester. Our students are aged from 10-17 and come from all over the world.

Details of Position

NCG is a successful and growing provider of summer courses for young people (10-17) in a variety of prestigious locations in England and Ireland. We are currently recruiting senior management staff for our three schools in England for summer 2019.
York (Queen Ethelburga's College) 30 June - 28 July
London (University of Greenwich) 30 June - 4 August
Manchester (University of Salford) 30 June - 11 August
All positions are residential.

Centre Manager
You will have overall responsibility for the school, including ensuring the academic and social programmes are run effectively, and you will line manage the Director of Studies and the Activity Manager. You will take primary responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of the students, oversee the allocation of accommodation, communicate effectively with staff, students, Group Leaders, the host institution and NCG Head Office, complete all paperwork in a timely manner, keep within the set budgets and deliver an outstanding experience to both students and Group Leaders.

Director of Studies
You will be responsible for the smooth running of the academic programme and will lead a team of teachers with varying degrees of experience. Duties include induction of academic staff,assessment testing and appropriate placement of students, timetabling, ensuring the syllabus is used effectively, teacher observations, and providing teacher and Group Leader workshops. You will support the Centre Manager in the management of the centre and deputise for him/her when necessary, and you will be expected to undertake pastoral, welfare or other duties as necessary.

Activity Manager
You will be responsible for the efficient planning, organisation and running of the social programme both on-site and off-site, and you will liaise with Group Leaders and students to promote the programme and ensure student participation. You will manage a team of Activity Leaders, delegating tasks to them and ensuring the safety and welfare of students is at the forefront of everything you do. You will deputise for the Centre Manager when required and will be expected to undertake pastoral, welfare or other duties as necessary.

New College Group is accredited by the British Council and ISI.

New College Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and all staff are expected to share in this commitment. Therefore, all references will be followed up, gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily and appropriate suitability checks will be required prior to appointment. A DBS check will be requested in the event of a successful application (50% of the cost of this will be borne by NCG), together with a Police check from any country where an applicant has lived for more than six months in the past five years.

All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

Qualifications

Requirements

university degree
previous management experience essential - preferably within a summer school setting
excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills
native level proficiency in English
flexibility, adaptability and the ability to think on your feet
experience of money management/budgets
ability to motivate your team
first aid certificate desirable

Director of Studies
university degree and DELTA or equivalent
previous summer school experience
excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
native level proficiency in English

Activity Manager
previous experience of working on a summer school social programme is essential
managerial experience desirable
excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills
excellent organisational skills, problem solving ability and the ability to think on your feet
boundless enthusiasm and the ability to motivate staff, students and Group Leaders
first aid certificate desirable

Salary and Benefits

Centre Manager
£672.42 per week including holiday pay + free board and lodging.

Director of Studies
£605.18 per week including holiday pay + free board and lodging.

Activity Manager
£504.32 per week including holiday pay + free board and lodging.
