Job Summary

The Anglo American Academy in Cagliari, Sardinia, seeks 2 experienced (min. 2 years) qualified teacher for the start of the 2022-23 academic year. We are a passionate team of dedicated EFL professionals with over thirty years of experience serving students in Cagliari. As a member of AIBSE, the British Schools of English group, we are fully accredited by the Italian ministry of education and and are an authorised centre for Cambridge Assessment English examinations (centre IT560).

Located in the busy commercial heart of Cagliari, the Anglo American Academy seeks an experienced (min. 2 years) qualified teacher for the start of the 2022-23 academic year. We are a passionate team of EFL professionals committed to providing our students with an immersive, high quality experience of language learning that helps them achieve their life goals. Our school caters to all age groups, from pre-schoolers through to adults, offering general English and preparation courses for Cambridge English examinations, for which we are an authorised examinations centre (Centre IT560). Most teaching activities take place within the school, meaning teachers are rarely required to travel.

What distinguishes us from other schools is our focus on complementary services for our students, including a language laboratory staffed by qualified tutors to enable students to consolidate their learning in class. We also have a conversation room to help students improve their confidence and fluency in speaking English. Through the use of interactive technology our classroom lessons have become "smart", enabling absent students to participate remotely with the same quality of interaction they could expect in the physical classroom.

The ideal candidate will be a reliable team-player with a dynamic classroom presence and a passion for teaching. Teachers will work 25 hours a week with duties including: teaching group and individual lessons; conversation; materials development and/or marking; exam invigilation. Teachers are given initial induction and ongoing professional development, paid holidays, and sick pay (on production of a valid medical certificate). We encourage teachers who meet the minimum professional requirements to train up as speaking examiners for Cambridge certifications.

The spacious and luminous city-centre premises are fully compliant with all aspects of health and safety regulations relating to Covid-19. Cagliari is a lively port city on the south coast of Sardinia, Italy's second largest island. The city offers a vibrant cultural scene and varied opportunities for outdoor activities in coastal and mountain settings. The climate is comparable to southern California. Qualifications

All candidates must:

- currently have the legal right to live and work in Italy;
- have a native level of English;
- possess Cambridge CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent first teaching qualification;
- possess a Bachelor's degree;
- have a minimum 2 years' experience, preferably teaching a range of levels/age groups.

The ideal candidate will:

- be a Cambridge Assessment English speaking examiner;
- have a working knowledge of Italian (ideally to B1 level);
- have a full, clean driving licence.

Candidates will be asked to nominate two referees, one of whom must be their most recent employer.

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time, permanent position (tempo indeterminato), meaning teachers are paid every month of the year and need not seek summer work elsewhere. The salary will be EUR 1550 monthly after taxes.

The contract is governed by Italian law and all social security contributions are paid in Italy, thus guaranteeing teachers a stable footing on which to build a life here. As an additional incentive, teachers will accumulate a generous severance payment of around one month's salary for every year of service ("TFR, trattamento fine rapporto").
