Job Summary

A residential Summer job for a teacher with the energy and enthusiasm to teach teenaged learners in the picturesque town of Salisbury.

Details of Position

A four-week contract for a teacher with the energy and enthusiasm to teach teenaged learners in the picturesque town of Salisbury.

For the residential option, accommodation and board are fully included.

To usually teach 20 x 45 minute lessons per week, though this amount may be extended with mutual agreement of the contractor and supervisor. The maximum number of lessons per teaching week shall not exceed 40.
To plan lessons well in advance, demonstrating an understanding of the ethos of the learning objectives of the summer centre there is no service fee for planning time as this is assumed in the hourly service rate for a lesson
To deliver classes that meet the needs of the learners and are in line with guidelines issued prior to the start of service delivery
To keep accurate records of planning and work done; to keep daily attendance registers and other associated records accurately and effectively; to carry out any other such associated administration
To attend staff meetings and regular in-service development sessions
To assist in the testing and placement of students
To assist other contractors and the Academic Manager in the care and maintenance of teaching materials and the neat and tidy appearance of classrooms, staff room and common areas
To be pro-active in the care and welfare of students and where necessary in support of other members of staff.


A current enhanced DBS, preferably on the renewable system, is essential.

Salary and Benefits

One Day Induction £50.00
Weekly Freelance rate (residential) £260.00
Hourly rate for teaching (non-residential) £16.00

As part of the service agreement, you may be required to attend a training and induction period prior to the opening of the centre. This will take place at the centre and you must be available for a one-day session. This session will cover, amongst other matters, site familiarity, health & safety, emergency and evacuation & emergency procedures, academic induction. This period of training may be claimed for as in the table below
Prior to the opening of the centre, you will also be expected to have planned your first teaching week and also to have been briefed on your role on welcome, testing and induction of new student.
