The British Council teaching centres in Egypt are looking to recruit full time teachers to work in the two Cairo centres in Agouza and Heliopolis and the centre in Alexandria.
The centres continue to expand in both General English (Adults and YLs) and Corporate Services. The latter taking place both inside the capital and locations beyond. Classes are offered over 7 days with approximately 3,000 adults and 1,650 young learners per term.
Egypt plays a major role in the BCs ELT work across the whole Arabic-speaking region. The teaching centre is one of the oldest and biggest in the network. Demand for English is strong and classrooms are generally full. It is a busy operation working alongside the exams, programmes and projects departments. BC Cairo is also a regional training centre and there are excellent opportunities for further development in various directions. The centres run CELTA, distance DELTA, CiPELT, CiSELT and various management and general training courses. Sponsorship is available on most courses for suitable candidates.
For more experienced teachers there is a supported environment to start into teacher training and regular coordinator opportunities.
The British Council enjoys a strong reputation in Egypt as the leading provider of English language courses. Current performance of Exams and Teaching across the country is strong and there are ambitious growth targets for both businesses. The Alexandria Adult and Young Learner programmes have seen substantial growth since the branch was launched in November 2013.
We have vacancies for qualified EFL teachers on two-year contracts starting asap.
You will be an enthusiastic and motivated TEFL-I qualified teacher with at least 2 years post-qualification experience looking for an interesting place to live, work and develop.
This opportunity is open to Egyptian, UK and Syrian nationals and other nationals who have their own existing right to work in Egypt. Work permits can only be obtained via the British Council for UK, Egyptian and Syrian passport holders.
2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience
Experience in teaching relevant age groups:
Adults General English (800+ hours)
Young adults aged 5-17 (400+ hours)
Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL
Full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module.
