Job Summary

We are recruiting Sessional English Language and Academic Skills Tutors to join our team at the University of Brighton International College. The purpose of these roles is to deliver highly effective modules in English Language and Academic Skills to international students. This position is for a fixed term 12 week contract. Further sessional contracts may become available in future terms.

University of Brighton International College
The College is operated in partnership with the University of Brighton, located on both the Universitys Moulsecoomb and City campuses, and offers programmes designed to prepare international students for entry to undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at the University of Brighton.
We are recruiting Sessional English Language and Academic Skills Tutors to join our team at the University of Brighton International College. The purpose of these roles is to deliver highly effective modules in English Language and Academic Skills to international students. This position is for a fixed term 12 week contract. Further sessional contracts may become available in future terms.
Main responsibilities:
Preparing and delivering English language and academic skills modules to students studying on programmes offered at Extended English Skills, Foundation, International Year One and Pre-Masters levels by the College and assisting with the development of modules.
Assisting with module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.
Conducting, marking and providing feedback to students on formative and summative assessments.
Facilitating student access to and use of the Colleges Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Providing input for related modules to the reporting/reviewing process.
Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of student attendance and performance.
Providing, when required, academic learning support to a small number of students in groups or one to one.
Participating in regular meetings and training with teaching and support staff, which are paid at the administration rate.

Qualifications

You will enjoy working with international students, be customer orientated and performance driven. In addition you will have:
A Bachelors degree, a professional qualification (e.g. CELTA/CertTESOL) in English language teaching (DELTA/TEFL-Q preferred), teaching experience and experience of Exam Preparation classes.
Experience working with and supporting the needs of international students.
Organisational, administrative and IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, etc.).
Fluent spoken and written English.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong record-keeping skills

In addition it would be desirable for you to have:
A Masters degree in a relevant subject such as ELT
Experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes in Higher Education or Further Education institutions.
The flexibility and willingness to work under pressure to deadlines.
Ability to develop and update teaching material, preferably with experience of working with a Virtual Learning Environment
