Details of Position

Job Summary
-Experience: 32 years experience running summer schools
-International setting: Each summer we provide residential and family-stay courses for around 4,000 students from all over the world; the international aspect of our courses is important to us.
-Values: Elac has always strived to retain the values and ethos that characterised Elac from the beginning and which make it attractive to our staff, students and partners. Our 5 cores values are Relationships, Professionalism, Social & Environmental Ambition, Integrity, and Innovation
-Staff: We value our staff and recognise the vital role they play in the success of our centres and the importance of investing in staff, not just for the summer, but on a long-term basis too.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic staff to work at our 7 British Council and English UK & Young Learners English UK accredited summer centres across the UK during July and into August.

We are recruiting:
- Teachers (Residential and Non-residential) with no pastoral duties for staff i.e., no night-time duties or wake up calls.

We are also recruiting for the following roles, if you are interested in applying for one of these roles, please make this clear in your application. Details on these job roles together with the salary information can be found on our Elac education website or can be requested.

- Senior Teachers
- Academic Managers
- Assistant Centre Managers

Contracts are for 4 weeks with the possibility of an additional 2 weeks. Shorter contracts may also be available, please ask. Staff training takes place 1 or 2 days before the Centre start date.

We are looking for applicants who are committed and have a genuine interest in teaching young learners. Previous summer school experience is welcome although not essential. It is a great environment for newly qualified teachers as there is a lot of support and many opportunities for development; a wonderful way to launch your TEFL career!

Teachers are contracted to work 27 contact teaching and/or testing and orientation hours each week, though contracted hours will not necessarily be used equally throughout your contract.

Most lessons are pre-prepared and have been carefully developed to help students develop their language and 21st Century skills. There is however some opportunity for teachers to use their own lesson plans, allowing you to be creative but not having to plan every lesson. Lessons can be repeated daily which cuts down on planning time considerably.

One of our centres (Cirencester) also caters for 7-10 years old. If you have any experience with this age group or of teaching English through performance, please mention this in your application.

Residential Teachers will also complete 1 educational excursion per week (10 hours) to go towards payment for their full board accommodation, but WILL NOT have any pastoral duties i.e., no night-time duties or wake up calls.

Staff need to be at the centre for induction 1 day before (Teachers) or 2 days before (Management) the student arrival dates below:

- Bath Spa University: 2nd July 13th August

- Nottingham University: 2nd July 30th July

- Ardingly College, Haywards Heath: 3rd July 14th August

- Eastbourne College: 4th July 15th August

- Christs Hospital, Horsham: 5th July 16th August

- Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester: 5th July 16th August

- Prior Park College, Bath: 10th July 7th August
