Hours
Variable: typically 25 per week term time only with optional additional hours during school holidays
Holidays
30 days per annum for staff 0-3 years service
33 days per annum for staff 3+ years

Purpose of the Role
The EAL Coordinator/Teacher will lead and coordinate LILAs English as an Additional Language provision within partner schools whilst delivering high-quality teaching which enables pupils to thrive academically and socially. The postholder will build and maintain strong relationships with schools, support the continuous development of LILAs EAL offer and ensure provision reflects current best practice and regulatory expectations.
Teaching responsibilities
To plan and deliver effective and stimulating lessons whilst showing respect to beliefs and cultures.
To manage pupil behaviour effectively and ensure students receive maximum benefit from tuition.
To consult with the academic management team, administration team and school directors as appropriate.
To consult with co-teachers and other colleagues.
To keep accurate and up-to-date registers, records of work and draft academic reports as required.
To assess, monitor and record pupils progress via individual learning plans and use this information to inform future planning and support.
To attend meetings as requested by the academic management team and school directors.
To be observed by members of the academic management team for both standardisation and developmental purposes.
To promote British values, equality, diversity and inclusion through teaching and interactions with pupils.
Coordination Responsibilities
Actively contact and connect with schools within Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley to promote LILAs EAL services with a view to widening participation.
Periodically review and improve EAL resources for LILA tutors.
Stay up to date with changes in EAL provision best practice.
Periodically submit reports and updates to LILA management on developments in EAL provision.
Attend training and disseminate learning to colleagues as appropriate.
Review and improve LILAs own EAL assessment and reporting methods and documentation.
Monitor the quality and effectiveness of EAL provision and seek opportunities for continuous improvement.
General Duties
To ensure all lesson preparation and photocopying is completed before lessons commence and in line with copyright law.
To show respect to all staff and students and communicate in a friendly and professional manner.
To always maintain a professional appearance; smart-casual clothes in the workplace.
To keep the workplace tidy and ensure workplace safety.
To help ensure pupils behave responsibly and to always care for their social welfare.
To adhere to UK safeguarding laws and best practice.
To understand and follow LILA safeguarding procedures, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
To undertake safeguarding, Prevent and any other mandatory training as required.
To contribute positively to quality assurance activities, including observations and self-evaluation processes.
Essential skills & experience
The successful candidate will:
Promote the British values of respect, tolerance, individual liberty and rule of law
Be trained in health and safety awareness such as first aid/fire marshal etc (training available by LILA*)
Be trained to Safeguarding Level 1 (Basic Awareness) (training available by LILA*)
Attend in-company safeguarding training & participate in steps raising staff awareness of the
companys legal duty of care to under 18 students and vulnerable adults
Demonstrate an ethos of excellent customer service and professionalism

Qualifications
Cambridge CELTA
PGCE is ideal but not necessary.
Trinity TESOL is also accepted as are some other 120-hr TEFL qualifications.
