The position involves 21 hours per week of face-to-face teaching. Classes are small, with a maximum of ten students and often fewer. Most students are children and young teenagers, although the timetable also includes some older teenagers and adults. Classes are grouped by age and level, from beginner to C1 Advanced.
Some courses include preparation for Cambridge English Qualifications, including Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers, A2 Key and B1 Preliminary. B2 First and C1 Advanced are taught as dedicated examination-preparation levels.
Communicative language teaching is central to our approach, complementing students school English and more traditional methods. We value teachers who create lively and engaging well-structured lessons, maximise spoken interaction, make effective use of pair work and information-gap activities, encourage students to complete homework, and provide prompt feedback.
Our students are mainly Portuguese, with a few from Brazil, Angola and other countries. They are generally motivated, cooperative and well behaved.

Degree Required

Teaching experience: 2 years

Native level English speaker preferred

Cambridge CELTA

Degree required. CELTA or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification required; other relevant qualifications may be considered.
A minimum of two years EFL teaching experience is required, preferably involving face-to-face teaching. Experience of teaching children or working in a language school would be a particular advantage.
Native-level spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of Portuguese or another language, particularly Spanish or Italian, would be an advantage.
Applicants must already have the legal right to work in Portugal. We are unable to sponsor work visas. This normally means EU member-state nationality or non-EU nationality with a Portuguese residence permit.
