We started in 1991, so we are well established and well known in the city. There are 7 teachers and our wonderful secretary, Lola, and we teach children from six years old to school leavers and adults of all levels. As a Cambridge Preparation Centre, many of our pupils do First, Advanced and Proficiency.

Details of Position

The Albion School in Oviedo, Asturias, is looking for a general English teacher to teach young children from six-year-olds through to teenagers about to go to university. There will also be classes for adults, mostly between Intermediate (A2/B1) and Advanced (C1 level). The majority of classes are in the afternoon, though a small number may well be in the morning, conveniently grouped together in blocks. There is no teaching on Saturdays.

Albion School is a well-established school in the centre of the attractive city of Oviedo. We prepare many of our students to do a variety of different exams, in particular the higher Cambridge exams. There is an excellent, friendly and supportive working atmosphere in the school, and a lot of our teachers have stayed with us for many years. We are offering 18 hours of guaranteed classes a week, with the possibility of more hours if they are available.

Preference will be given to candidates with a degree, some kind of TEFL qualification and a certain amount of experience. We are looking for a teacher with a native speaker level of competence. Initially the contract would be from the beginning of October to the end of June.

Salary and Benefits

We are offering 18 guaranteed hours of teaching for a salary of slightly more than 1000 euros. Additional hours are likely to be available. We can give more detailed information to candidates when they apply.

Job Summary

You will be teaching from little six-year olds to teenagers preparing for university, some of whom have a really good level.

The smallest ones do two 1 hour classes a week, whilst those of 8 or more do three hours a week.

Most of our adults are in the 25 to 35 age group, but this is not true of all of them.

All classes have a maximum of 10 students, although you will have some "private" classes, usually individual. Most classes are afternoons, between 4 and 9.30 but a few in the morning.
