St Giles Highgate is a private language school, teaching English to international students aged 14 and over. We are looking for qualified teachers (minimum CELTA or equivalent) for our busy summer period. We currently have work available for the four weeks beginning 03/07/2017, although this may increase as bookings are still coming in. Rates of pay depend on experience, but we are a well-established and reputable school, offering competitive remuneration.

Job Summary

Details of Position

The Assistant Director of Studies (ADoS) is a core member of the academic management team and provides vital support to the Director of Studies (DoS). The post requires a high degree of flexibility. The ADoS must be able to multi-task and to offer support and guidance to teachers and students. The role also involves contributing to the continued development and improvement of the academic programme and to the success of both the School and the Group. The role combines some teaching commitments with a wide range of academic management duties.

Qualifications

The Assistant Director of Studies should hold either The Cambridge DELTA, Trinity College Licentiate Diploma, or a Masters Degree in TEFL as well as at least three years experience at a British Council accredited school. Having the DELTM would be an advantage as would level 2 Safeguarding training

Salary and Benefits

Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 depending on experience and qualifications
Inclusion in the St Giles Profit Related Pay scheme
20 days annual leave plus public holidays, rising to 32 days annual leave plus public holidays after 4 years' continuous service.

Job Summary

During quiet periods the role includes up to twenty hours of teaching each week, but during busy periods and when the DOS is absent the ADOS doesn't teach.
Academic management duties include:
Cover for DOS
Safeguarding
Organising in-house and external exams
Interviewing new teachers.
Induction of new teachers.
Supporting teachers
Delivering CPD
Teacher observations
Assist with academic administration
Responding to student enquiries and complaints
Monitor student attendance
