Speak English School is a prestigious language school in the historical centre of Oviedo. Set up by ex-British Council teachers with the aim of offering a similar quality service. The school has been open for nearly 30 years and is currently doing extremely well with a variety of levels, ages, and types of classes. The school has excellent results in the Cambridge exams and a highly-qualified and motivating staff.
So as you can imagine the teacher we are looking for will be expected to be of a similarly high level.
We use general English texts books as a base and the teacher will need to incorporate warmers, games, and fun activities to make the classes interesting.
The post can be either full-time (25hrs a week) or part-time. The classes are in the afternoon. Sometimes starting at 14.00 or 16.00. Teaching some adult one-to-ones then a combination of juniors and kids and finally group adult classes at 8.
The school offers a wide selection of materials with laptops connected to the TV in every classroom. The classrooms are spacious and light, overlooking the garden.
During the months of October to December, we run a short 10-week intensive course on Saturdays in which you would be expected to do at least some of the classes. These are paid as overtime.

Qualifications

The teacher will need to have experience with kids, juniors, and adults. They should be familiar with the Cambridge exams. They must have a Native level of English as they may have to teach Proficiency C2 classes.
Since Brexit, we are unable to hire British teachers, unless they have European residency already. The same applies to any other non-EU nationals.

Salary and Benefits

1,400 euros net basic pay for 25hrs a week plus overtime when applicable. Tax and social security are paid for by the school. Around four weeks holiday paid divided between Easter; Christmas, various four day weekends and we usually finish a week early in June but you are paid til the end of the month.
A part-time teacher would get the corresponding proportion of the salary depending on the hours worked. Same holidays.
