The traveling educator will take vacations as follows: (1) approximately two weeks of time off over the Christmas and New Year holidays each year, (2) approximately three weeks off each summer while the children attend camp in Switzerland, and (3) various other periods of time off following family travel schedules or needs.

For the other months of the academic year, the traveling educator will lead and guide the individualized stills-based learning for both children, including morning skills learning sessions followed by afternoon place-based content lessons and project-based learning.

Overview
A globally mobile family is seeking an exceptional full-time private educator to deliver individualized homeschooling instruction for their 10-year-old twins. A scope and sequence of skills along with various summative assessment protocols will be provided while individual curricular choices and lesson planning decisions will be made by the traveling teacher.
The educator will take full ownership of the childrens academic journeys, while collaborating closely with others on the team to ensure alignment, consistency, and shared experiences occur with both children where appropriate.
This is a rare opportunity for a top-tier educator to operate with creativity and intellectual depth in a highly enriched, international environment.

The Role
The educator will:

  • follow an individualized skills-based curriculum to teach reading, writing, math, and critical thinking to both children.
  • design and implement a bespoke, place-based content curriculum (including literature, history, science, art, music, philosophy, and other topics) tailored to each childs learning style, strengths, and developmental needs.
  • partner with other educators to ensure cohesion across subjects, schedules, and shared learning opportunities

The educator will work approximately 6 - 8 hours daily with the children, including 2-3 hours of teaching of core academic skills (reading, writing, math, critical thinking) each morning and 4 -5 hours of place-based content (history, science, art, music, etc.) lessons and projects each afternoon. A tutor will support the teacher during the afternoon lessons and projects.

During some months (including those in Los Angeles), the teachers will spend time at a microschool with one of the children, supporting learning and projects in a classroom environment with another teacher.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other educators to implement a fully customized academic program
  • Deliver instruction across core subjects (ELA math, science, history, art, and music)
  • Integrate travel-based, experiential, and interdisciplinary learning
  • Apply differentiated teaching strategies where appropriate
  • Assess progress and keep detailed records, provide thoughtful, structured feedback
  • Coordinate regularly with others to align schedules, goals, and shared experiences
  • Maintain academic consistency and structure across a highly mobile lifestyle

Educators will:

  • travel with the family (summer and winter breaks TBD based on mutual alignment)
  • be provided accommodations (live-in or nearby hotel or short-term rental) while traveling outside of Los Angeles
  • work primarily weekdays (weekends generally off) for approximately 40 hours per week
