There is an opportunity for a CELTA/Trinity/DELTA/PGCE (English/Primary/MFL) qualified teacher to join our fun, high-paced summer school. New staff will be supported by an experienced director of studies, senior teacher and our enthusiastic, friendly team. Professional development sessions are held each course for teachers and international group leaders.
ISC, founded in 1997, offers an excellent General English Programme and General English+ Courses that include a full, daily activity programme and excursions. ISC has a welcoming, professional and supportive environment, with staff, leaders and students returning year after year. We run one summer school in one location and aim to deliver high-quality courses and levels of care. We are proud to have a strong BC report including strengths in teaching and care of under 18s. We expect new team members to maintain our high standards in delivering excellent courses to our students.
We offer competitive teaching salaries from £565 p/w + accrued holiday pay + full-board accommodation (equivalent to £69.93/wk). Successful applicants will join a friendly team of around 12 teachers & 20 activity leaders.
There are also residential activity leader positions available, salaries range from £415 to £480 p/w + accrued holiday pay and full-board accommodation equivalent to £69.93/wk. We adhere to National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage requirements.
Enthusiasm, energy and proactiveness are vital, as are the abilities to work under pressure and as part of a team.
Our 2024 course dates are:
- Tuesday 2nd July - Monday 15th July
- Tuesday 16th July - Monday 29th July
- Tuesday 30th July - Monday 12th August
Induction training will take place Saturday 29th June to Monday 1st July. All staff must attend this paid training as a requirement of their employment. Contracts range from two to six weeks, teaching for 27 or 13.5 hours per week. This is a residential post and all staff are expected to supervise students in their houses on a rota basis.
You will be responsible for planning interesting, interactive lessons using the ISC syllabus, ensuring that students have as much spoken practice as possible. ISC course plans and materials have been devised for all levels to help save preparation time. Teachers are welcome to use our course plans or tailor them to meet their students' needs, using their own material or using our resource library. As we have a large contingent of returning staff each year, new teachers will benefit from the experience and support of our friendly team.
Staff live in one of Bloxham's homely boarding houses and will be roomed on corridors with students nearby. All staff carry out pastoral duties on a rota basis, including a nightly register of students. There are experienced heads of house who will have overall responsibility for the general running of the boarding houses. Teachers also take part in five sports, arts or drama-based activity sessions each week. 13.5-hr teachers do 10 activity sessions p/wk.
We are proud of our British Council accredited status, our 2022 report noted 8 areas of strength including teaching, course design, staff management and care of under 18s. We hope that prospective teachers would seek to maintain our high standards in delivering excellent courses to our students.
As the safety and well-being of our students is paramount:
* All staff, at all times, have a legal responsibility to adhere to our strict safeguarding policy. This includes when on campus, but not actually working.
* There is pre-course, paid induction training for all staff to ensure you are fully aware of all responsibilities and the general day-to-day running of the school. Attendance of induction days is compulsory. Candidates unable to attend will unfortunately not be recruited. Induction training will take place Saturday 29th June to Monday 1st July.
* All references will be followed up without exception. Referees will be asked specifically if there is any reason why you should not be allowed to work with under 18s.
* Proof of identity and all relevant qualifications will need to be seen prior to employment.
* All candidates will need to provide an Enhanced DBS Check and a certificate of good conduct from their local police force if working overseas.
* ISC will carry out and pay for an Enhanced DBS check.
