Position purpose / summary
The Director of Studies will play a pivotal role in the development, execution, and enhancement of the schools academic programs and curriculum. This leadership position will combine educational expertise with organizational skills to ensure the highest quality of language instruction and student success. The role will also involve shaping the academic experience for students and guiding the professional growth of teaching staff.

Main duties and responsibilities

Collaborate with teaching staff to design, update, and improve English language curricula that align with the schools educational objectives and industry standards.

Incorporate the latest teaching methodologies, technology tools, and materials to enhance the curriculums effectiveness.

Recruit, hire, and onboard qualified English language Teachers.

Provide ongoing training, professional development, and mentoring to teachers, ensuring they are equipped with the latest teaching techniques and resources.

Conduct regular teacher evaluations to assess performance, offer feedback, and identify opportunities for growth.

Lead the academic team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages creativity and effective teaching.

Set academic goals, objectives, and standards for teachers to uphold quality instruction.

Implement strategies that promote student engagement and motivation within the classroom.

Monitor student progress, attendance, and performance, ensuring that learning objectives are being met.

Develop and implement strategies to support struggling students, such as providing additional resources or arranging tutorials.

Address student concerns, inquiries, and grievances related to academic matters.

Ensure that the English language schools programs and teaching methods comply with accreditation standards, industry best practices, and regulations.

Conduct regular evaluations of curriculum effectiveness, teaching methodologies, and student outcomes to identify areas for improvement.

Allocate teaching resources, classrooms, and materials to optimize the learning environment.

Implement efficient scheduling to accommodate varying student levels, preferences, and class sizes.

Generate regular reports for school management, providing evidence-based recommendations for academic improvements.

Foster relationships with external organizations, universities, and language associations to stay connected with industry trends and opportunities.

Represent the school at academic conferences, workshops, and events.

Additional requirements

Demonstrated experience in a leadership or managerial capacity, showcasing the ability to guide and inspire teams, make decisions, and achieve goals.

Proficiency in analyzing complex situations, identifying solutions, and making informed decisions that align with organizational goals.

Effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks, delegate responsibilities, and meet deadlines while maintaining quality.

Capability to think critically and strategically, identifying opportunities for improvement and growth within the department and organization.

Willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, navigate uncertainties, and adjust strategies as needed to achieve objectives.

Ability to collaborate across departments, build relationships with stakeholders, and represent the organization in relevant industry networks.

Strong commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions and decision-making.

Qualifications

DELTA/Dip TESOL qualified or equivalent.

Have at least 1000 hours of teaching class time.
