MLA is currently recruiting professional EFL teachers for residential and non-residential Summer posts in the UK and Ireland. Experienced and newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with young learners/teens and see how they develop their communication skills and enjoy a lifechanging learning experience.


Locations:
Non-Residential positions only: London: Kings College London, Dulwich, Uxbridge, Edinburgh, Reading and Richmond (see details below)
Residential and Non-Residential positions available: Worcester, Guildford and Dover.

DATES:
4-weeks programme from 02/07/2024 to 31/07/2024
If you wish to join our team for 2 weeks only, then dates are from 17/07/2024 to 31/07/2024
Dover and Dulwich 4 weeks from 08/07/2024 to 03/08/2024

Non-Residential teachers READING
DATES
4-weeks from 02/07/2024 to 30/07/2024 (first 2 weeks, mornings only)
2 weeks from 19/07/2024 to 30/07/2024

Reading Hourly rate GBP 17 per hour plus holiday pay 12.07% (GBP 2.06) and 17% (GBP 2.89) to cover administrative duties. GBP 22.49 per hour
Returning teachers will receive a bonus of GBP/EUR 150 after completing their full contract.

Non-Residential teachers RICHMOND
DATES
4-weeks from 04/07/2024 to 29/07/2024
2 weeks from 19/07/2024 to 29/07/2024

Full day 3 days or twice a week

Richmond Hourly rate GBP 17 per hour plus holiday pay 12.07% (GBP 2.06) and 17% (GBP 2.89) to cover administrative duties. GBP 22.49 per hour
Returning teachers will receive a bonus of GBP/EUR 150 after completing their full contract.

At MLA we have been running successful language courses for Italian students in the UK, Ireland, and USA since 1976. You will be delivering high-quality and communicative EFL Task Based lessons as part of a teaching team in one of our centres. Lessons will include engaging activities to help students develop their skills and, most importantly, learn by doing while speaking in English!

Residential staff work a 6-day week with one 24-hour period off per week. This includes 6 hours of teaching per working day, preparation time and some administrative duties (such as reports, meetings, records). You will not be required to go on excursions, join activities or any pastoral care outside your teaching and admin hours. However, you are welcome to join our students and activity leaders in fun activities if you like. Summer programmes are hard work, and you might, exceptionally, be requested to assist outside your working hours.

Person Specification:

EFL Teacher

Essential:
UK CENTRES: Must have a UK passport/right to work in the UK
IRELAND CENTRES: Must have EU passport/right to work in the EU/Ireland

First degree (any discipline) Required
C2 English level speaker to provide a clear and accurate model of the English language
Passionate about teaching and learning
Applicants should have one of the following required qualifications:
Cambridge CELTA
Trinity CertTESOL
BA TEFL
BA TESOL
Cambridge DELTA
Trinity DipTESOL
Masters MA TESOL
MA TEFL
PGCE or QTS

Desirable:
Previous summer school experience/International school experience
Experience of teaching mono-lingual classes
Young Learner specialism e.g. TYLEC

Personal Attributes:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Capacity to work alongside colleagues, contributing effectively to a team
Good administrative / ICT skills
Passionate about teaching and learning

As part of HR regulations, we will need to see documentation that proves you are eligible to work in the UK. This means you fit into one of these categories:
Hold a British passport
As an EU citizen you
o have pre-settled status
o have Settled status
o hold a Frontier Worker Permit
If you are a third country citizen (any country outside of the EEA): you have the necessary working visa.

We will ask for this information at the very beginning of the interview; if you are unable to show your documentation, we will have to rearrange the interview until you have it.

Salary and Benefits

UK NON-RESIDENTIAL:
Non-Residential staff can earn up to GBP 673 gross per week (plus 12.07% holiday pay = GBP 743.42 weekly).
Hourly rate GBP 15 to GBP 16 plus 15% to 17% to cover administrative duties based on qualifications and experience (plus 12.07% holiday pay).
UK RESIDENTIAL:
Residential teachers can earn from GBP 475 - GBP 485 gross per week (plus 12.07% holiday pay = GBP 532 GBP 543 weekly) based on qualifications and experience.

Returners will receive a bonus of GBP 150 after completing their full contract
