Details of Position

MC is a family-run International Summer School, specialising in young learners and teens, running Residential English Language Courses since 1970. The summer campus is Hurst College, Hurstpierpoint, W Sussex, near Brighton.

Are...
-flexible in order to meet the aims of MC Summer School (this is residential work, with an average 8hr work per day).
-dedicated to child protection & safeguarding from all kinds of harm.
-willing to undergo a Police / Criminal Record check for suitability to work with children.
-aware of professional boundaries with children
-positive about policies including use of data & devices at work.

Have
-appropriate attitudes for a person in a position of trust.
-UK passport or visa (we cannot obtain Work Permits or Visas).
-degree or relevant training, qualifications, or certificates.
-proven experience of, or desire to, work with both children & international customers.
-IT skills for data management & an insight into data protection.
-proficient English communication.

Demonstrate
-awareness of health & safety practices & how to implement them with large groups.
-ability to promote, instruct & supervise sessions in your specialist field of activities.
-ability to manage people and their accommodation preferences.
-ability to monitor & manage childrens behaviour.
-ability to identify & award childrens achievements.

Can
-work & live under pressure in an environment of 300+ children & 60+ staff.
-adapt their professional manner to various cultures, languages & age-groups.
-communicate proficiently in English, using various methods.
-complete in-depth & reflective records of all their work.
-use initiative & intuition at work.
-manage digital data for registers.

Degree Required

Native level English speaker preferred

Qualifications

There are 2 different jobs available. Suitability will be determined by qualifications and experience. Certificates in subjects such as:
childcare;
welfare support;
sports leadership;
teaching;
healthcare;
outdoor activities;
art;
drama;
music;
dance;
education;
child development;
hospitality;
tourism;
leisure management;
psychology

Salary and Benefits

Summer contracts
5th July to 12th Aug 5.5 weeks = £3100
5th July to 5th Aug 4.5 weeks = £2565
5th July to 29th July 3.5 weeks = £2030

Other dates available - choose your dates

Accommodation + full-board provided - above salary has an accommodation cost already deducted.
Training + preparation provided - hours during Induction are paid, and regular admin sessions are scheduled and paid.
Criminal / police record check - if MC do apply, we will pay.
Salary consists of - 3, 4 or 5 weeks pay of average 48 hours per week + 4 days pay for Induction/Welcome/Orientation days.
Salary includes - 0.625 days (5 hours) per week statutory holiday pay.
Contract includes - 1 days off (24hr periods off the rota) per 1 week.
Deductions - N.I./Tax will be subtracted (if applicable) from above salary.

6-Campus Health/Safety Orientation.
7-Supervise Dining Hall Meals.
8-Supervise Morning/Afternoon/Night in Houses.
9-Excursion Duty.
10-Manage Behaviour & Adherence to Policies.
11-Pastoral & Welfare Support.
12-Campus Patrol.
13-Organise & Decorate Houses
