Details of Position

BlueSky Education is a residential English language camp provider in Singapore, UK, and Australia. We are currently recruiting seasonal centre managers for our residential summer camps in London which open in July and August 2017.
Dates: Jul – mid Aug 2017
Training prior: date to be confirmed
Hours: At least 48 hours per week. The role requires a high level of flexibility and will involve weekend and evening work
Location: London (South Bank or Camden)
As a residential centre manager at BlueSky Education, you will have the overall responsibility for the smooth running of our summer camp programme. You will closely monitor the quality and effectiveness of the academic and activity programme, and welfare provision amongst groups and staff to ensure an outstanding programme is delivered.
Key responsibilities
1. Staff Management
• Prepare for and lead staff induction
• Ensure effective communication with all members of staff
• Create a positive team atmosphere and motivate staff
• Ensure that the teaching and activity programmes are successfully integrated
• Ensure all staff and data and paperwork is maintained and recorded accurately
• Keep the centre office running properly and secure at all times
• Monitor the state of premises, equipment and resources throughout the course
2. Programme Management
• Ensure that the organisation of the centre, its courses, staff and student welfare comply with BlueSky policies and Accreditation UK guidelines
• Prepare for and lead student and Group Leader induction
• Allocate and monitor all residential accommodation, ensuring sufficient staff provision is available
• Ensure all BlueSky Education health and safety policies are implemented and monitored closely
• Control expenditure of the budget and maintain accurate accounts and receipts
• Ensure all documentation is checked, centre administration is carried out correctly
• Ensure all student data and paperwork is maintained and recorded accurately
• Respond to any emergency 24/7 during the duration of the camp
• Liaise with Group Leaders to ensure a high level of customer service
• Maintain a professional working relationship with staff, clients and venue staff
3. General Management
• Liaise fully with the permanent Operations Manager, Group Leaders, site representatives and other partners of BlueSky as part of programme setup and running
• Deal with day-to-day problems and find workable solutions
• Open and close the centre according to BlueSky Education guidelines
• Plan and carry out student night time duties on a rota basis
• Represent BlueSky Education positively in all conversations with clients, staff, and the host centre
• Oversee the implementation of all airport/rail/bus transfers for students and staff
• Finalise the accounts and write end of centre reports


• Educated to degree level
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in working as a residential centre manager / similar role for summer schools
• Experience in controlling budgets
• Proven competence in management and leadership skills
• Ability to build rapport with people from different cultures
• Enjoy working with teenagers and children
• Computer literate and proven competence in administration
• Flexible, adaptable and solutions focused
• Effective communicator
• Approaches work with a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude
• Be available to attend training prior to the camp
• Possess current First Aid certificate
• Successful candidates will be required to undertake a DBS check

Salary and Benefits

Core salary and bonuses:
Weekly basic salary: £600 - £650/week, depending on experience and centre size, to be discussed at interview
