Levels range from beginners, through intermediate, to Cambridge Proficiency. Teachers work mainly in the evenings from around 3.30 - 9.30 p.m. Monday to Friday. There are no weekend teaching hours. Nil employs a flexible resource material approach based on inhouse created teacher friendly worksheets.

Details of Position

The New Institute of Languages (NIL) in Lisbon is looking for 2 enthusiastic, committed EFL teachers with a genuine interest in teaching and who wish to experience life in one of Europe's most beautiful, vibrant and historical cities.
The teaching period is Monday 8th April 2024 to 28th June 2024 with the possibility of contract extension for the following academic year.

Full time contracts are for up to 24 teaching hours per week (Monday - Friday) in one of NIL's 3 schools located in the Lisbon area of Portugal. There are no weekend teaching hours. Successful candidates will teach small groups of students from junior beginner, through intermediate to University of Cambridge exam levels. Hours will be in one block of 4 to 5 classes per day starting at approximately 4.30 pm till 9.20 pm. These daily teaching timetables will include predominantly face to face classes as well as possibly one or two online classes.
At least 1 years teaching experience of groups in a classroom setting is required for the positions.
Candidates will be interviewed on Zoom or at an arranged time in Lisbon if a face to face interview is convenient.

Qualifications

University degree or academic equivalent. This is essential.
Native level English speaker in competence and pronunciation is also essential.
4-week Cambridge ESOL, CELTA, Trinity TESOL or equivalent.
Candidates must, either have permission to work in the E.U., or hold a valid work permit for employment in Portugal. Unfortunately we cannot consider any candidate who does not meet this requirement. All group classroom and/or other teaching experience should be fully detailed in a C.V.which along with a covering letter, scans of relevant academic and bureaucratic documents and a photo should be forwarded to Nicholas Rudall.

Salary and Benefits

We are offering a full competitive salary package to teachers.
Salary based on 24 hour teaching hours per week and is detailed on application and before the interview stage. Teachers are paid the full contract salary package regardless as to whether they are asked to teach the complete 24 hours teaching per week. It is down to the school to provide the hours.
Portuguese national public holidays are paid and form part of the salary package.
