Details of Position

EFL Teachers needed for growing language school in Quito, Ecuador. Ideally we are looking for CELTA qualified teachers with at least 2 years post-CELTA teaching experience. Teachers must be enthusiastic about professional development. We will consider other teaching qualifications and applications from non-native speakers who possess a C2 level language qualification.

International House Quito is an Authorised Cambridge English Exam Centre as well as an IELTS Independent Test Centre for the British Council. We are a small friendly school with a strong reputation for providing high quality language classes both online and in face-to-face classes. We teach all ages and all levels.

There are good opportunities to gain teaching experience delivering exam preparation classes as well as general English classes for adults and some classes for Young Learners and Teens.

Qualifications

All applications will be considered on merit and with attention to recent work references provided direct from referees.

Preference will be given to teachers who are available to start at short notice.

Note: Ecuador has been in the news a great deal lately for all the wrong reasons. Despite the negative image that we have fomented over the last few weeks Ecuador remains a very nice place to visit. Crime is mainly confined to certain areas and it is not a problem affecting the vast majority of the population. IH Quito is located in a relatively safe area and teachers live close by. There is shopping and entertainment in the same area. We feel that the government is taking appropriate action to return Ecuador to a very safe country in a short period of time.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a guaranteed fixed salary of $1040 in return for 80 hours teaching per month. Additional hours are paid by the hour at the same rate (proportionally calculated).

Teachers are provided with a two year work visa and a two year contract and successful completion of the contract will yield a $1000 severance payment as recognition for the time served where teachers are meeting our expectations in the classroom.

Teachers are included in a private health care plan that delivers up to $18,000 of personal cover.

Teachers are expected to participate enthusiastically in a useful professional development programme in line with the IH promise to teachers.

Upon arrival in Quito, teachers are supported by a member of IH Quito until they get settled. We help teachers find accommodation, open a bank account and obtain the Work Visa.

Job Summary

General English Teacher for online and face-to-face teaching with adults, teens and Young Learners.

Our core teaching times are late afternoon and early evenings from Tuesday to Friday as well as Saturday mornings. Currently we have no classes at other times but we reserve the right to call on teachers to accept timetabled classes in the morning from Tuesday to Friday and on Saturday afternoons.

Teachers join a friendly professional team and will be supported by a Director of Studies.
