Job Summary

We are now recruiting a Social Programme Manager to deliver a varied, appealing and profitable social programme to an audience of international students to enhance their social experience outside of class. This position is based in Bournemouth but may require additional attendance at other sites within the UK and some travel outside the UK.

Fixed-term contract: 21st August 2017 to 31st August 2018
Our Kaplan International English Bournemouth school offers the opportunity to learn English in a typical English seaside town. The resort town combines summer shows, great nightlife and excellent shopping which makes it a year-round destination for tourists. Only five minutes by bus from Bournemouth town center, the college is located on a main street and has a lovely patio at the back that can be used for working or socializing in the fresh air.
We are now recruiting a Social Programme Manager to deliver a varied, appealing and profitable social programme to an audience of international students to enhance their social experience outside of class. This position is based in Bournemouth but may require additional attendance at other sites within the UK and some travel outside the UK.
Your responsibilities will include:
-taking a lead role in the development and delivery of a professional, high quality social programme for international students in line with best practice guidelines and risk assessment procedures
-managing the design, provision and promotion of an interesting, varied, well-attended and profitable social programme both in and out of the school
-maintaining customer interest in the programme through researching and incorporating appropriate and engaging activities
-acting as the first point of contact at the “Social Programme Stand” in the student lounge
-providing students with comprehensive information about the event listings, selling tickets and giving them the opportunity to develop a closer rapport with the social staff
-maximising student participation in the programme by proactively seeking to build rapport with all students, looking to encourage, enthuse and involve all in the activities planned
-communicating with students both on a face to face basis and through social media channels to promote the programme
-monitoring and responding accordingly to comments, feedback and pictures posted
-liaising with the social media/marketing team at head office with regards to student uptake, feedback, marketing opportunities
-keeping the school’s programme plan on internal platforms as well as keeping the IPhone app and social media channels up-to-date
-actively leading or organising staffing for all events
-managing teams and ensuring that all staff involved are appropriately trained
-researching, setting up and developing good working partnerships with tour operators and venues in the local city and in the UK and constantly reviewing and evaluating the range of offerings and suppliers for quality of service and value for money
-reporting on activities, costs (including staff resources), ticket prices, profit margin, student uptake, post activity analysis, marketing/promo activity and student feedback
-working closely with academic staff to improve communication channels and links between the social programme and the academic syllabus
-working with the Social Programme Managers in other schools to coordinate UK wide events and develop the regional social programme offering

Qualifications

To be successful in the role, you'll have the following:
Essential:
-excellent organisational skills, interpersonal and communication skills
-exceptional customer service ethos
-flexibility, patience and ability to manage competing demands throughout the day and to work under pressure
-ability to relate to and build rapport with student age group of 16-25
-ability to deal with and resolve a high volume of queries efficiently
-strong attention to detail and high level of data accuracy
-ability to find and present solutions to achieve customer satisfaction
-solid IT skills and ability to navigate a student database system
-good intercultural competence
Desirable:
-university degree
-customer service qualification
-event management qualification
-experience of working in a customer-facing environment
-experience of event organisation
-experience of processing payments
-experience of working with young people
Special requirements: You will be required to have a DBS check (formerly CRB). Some evening and weekend work will be required on an ad hoc basis.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: £19,000-20,000 per annum pro-rata
