NATIVE LEVEL ENGLISH TEACHER
- Spain, Tarragona
- Cambridge English Centre
- Experience: 1 YEAR
- Positions: 3
Details of Position
For the course 2017-2018, we are looking for three qualified, experienced native-level English teachers to join our teaching team of ten, which includes two directors and two part-time teachers.
Since opening in 2010, Cambridge English Centre has fast become one of the largest language schools in Tarragona, with around 500 students registered for the current course. This success is down to our professionalism, enthusiasm, high-quality teaching and hard work, and it is vital that anyone who works with us can maintain these high standards.
The ideal candidate will be hard-working, professional, positive and friendly and should take time to prepare interesting, enjoyable and useful lessons. Only candidates with a genuine interest in teaching should apply.
We offer contracts for a minimum of 20 teaching hours per week, up to a maximum of 22 hours. In addition to the classroom contact hours, the contract includes attending weekly teachers´ meetings, preparing and correcting end of term exams and mock exams, writing termly reports for younger learners and attending two parents´ meetings per year, as well as thoroughly preparing lessons and marking students´ homework outside of class time. For a 20-hour teaching contract this will equate to approximately 30 working hours per week.
The contract will begin on Monday 25th September 2017 and end on Saturday 16th June 2018, with the possibility of renewal for the following academic course and working on our summer courses in July 2018. All new teachers are required to attend two days of training and induction on 21st and 22nd September 2017.
Most classes are timetabled from 15.30h-21.15h Monday to Thursday and either Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings (9.30h-12.30h). Teachers have an equal mix of younger learner, teenage and adult groups, with a lot of emphasis on Cambridge exam preparation.
We are committed to ongoing teacher development and, as well as providing regular in-house teacher training, we cover the cost of external teacher training events, including the annual IH Barcelona Conference. All teachers have one formal observation each term, as well as regular pop-in observations, and take part in peer observations.
QualificationsA CELTA and preferably the DELTA, or at least a desire to take it in the future, are essential. A CELTYL or other training in the teaching of younger learners is also desirable.
All candidates should also have at least one years' experience of teaching younger learners, as well as adults, and preparing students for Cambridge exams.
As we are an official Cambridge Exam Preparation Centre, we would welcome applications from trained Cambridge oral examiners.
Salary and BenefitsWe offer contracts for a minimum of 20 teaching hours per week for a monthly salary of 1,280€ gross, going up to 1,408€ for a maximum of 22 teaching hours per week.
You will pay about 8% tax/social security on your salary. The school pays full social security payments for teachers, which includes free access to Spanish healthcare.
Returning full-time teachers receive a 60€ bonus per month.
You will be paid for all public and school holidays including two weeks at Christmas and one week at Easter.
