Additionally, a significant part of the role involves the organisation & management of academic documentation and academic stock.

Summer Boarding Courses is an industry leading provider of summer courses for international students aged between 8 and 17 years old. Working with three of the most prestigious boarding schools in the United Kingdom and two Oxford University colleges, we have grown from a small summer school compa-ny to one of the United Kingdoms premier summer experience organisations.
With students from over 100 different countries, our summer school students have a truly international experience, whilst developing their English language skills. In our last British Council inspection, we re-ceived 10 areas of strength including academic management, course design, and teaching.

Job Description
Reporting to the Academic Director, the Academic Programme Manager will help devise and deliver the academic programmes offered by Summer Boarding Courses. This will entail contributing to content of the syllabuses used by teachers and tutors, the logistical planning of the extracurricular activities related to the academic programme (such as academic excursions), and the recruitment of teachers for the summer. Additionally, a significant part of the role involves the organisation and management of academ-ic documentation and academic stock.
This is in an office based position, located in our Head Office near Leeds, West Yorkshire. During the summer, considerable time will be spent at our courses in Oxford and Bournemouth. SBC is made up of a Head Office team who work throughout the year planning, organising and overseeing the courses. They are joined by staff teams for each school (approximately 150 staff in total) during the summer period. The SBC Head Office team holds a genuine passion for excellent customer service, teamwork and very im-portantly, a sense of fun.

Key Responsibilities
Alongside the Academic Director, the Academic Programme Manager will contribute to:
The design and implementation of induction sessions for both Directors of Studies and teachers.
The managing of Directors of Studies during the summer.
Ongoing evaluation of course design throughout the year
Developing CPD strategies for both Directors of Studies and teachers during the summer.
The continuing success of our academic courses particularly and Summer Boarding Courses generally.
The position also includes full or (where stated) shared responsibility for:
Being the day-to-day in-office point of contact representing Summer Boarding Courses academic de-partment to the internal team, summer staff and external stakeholders.
Providing other Head Office departments with relevant support and training on the academic pro-gramme.
Assisting the academic development team with course design, writing, proofreading, and formatting of academic materials, to ensure SBC material standards. This duty will include the overall responsibility of an academic area, to be determined by the candidates skill set (e.g. Young Learners or college course programmes).
Coordinating and ensuring the printing of all academic material to be used during the summer.
Managing the academic stock process, including liaising with relevant publishers and distributors, over-seeing costs, ensuring accurate recording and preparing and packing stock prior to the summer.
Overseeing relations with third-party examination affiliations and accreditations (e.g. Trinity Acting and Speaking examinations, British Council accreditation) and ensuring all academic licences are up to date.
Preparing documentation to be used during the summer by Directors of Studies, such as schedules, templates, and calendars.
Overseeing the recruitment process for all summer teaching staff, including updating interview tem-plates, taking a lead role in interviewing applicants, as well as assisting with the recruitment of summer Directors of Studies.
Managing the content and logistics of the Academic Highlights programme, offered at SBC colleges (e.g. booking guest lectures and organising academic workshops)
Ensuring deadlines for students taking our online placement test are met, in preparation for the sum-mer.

Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience:
A good knowledge of residential summer schools for international young learners
Significant EFL teaching and management experience, particularly in residential summer schools
An up-to-date understanding of EFL and related methodologies and pedagogies
A positive, friendly and professional manner
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
An ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and problem-solving skills
Excellent organisation skills, including strong administrative skills and a meticulous eye for detail.
Excellent IT skills
An ability to be flexible with their working schedule, particularly during the summer months when weekend and evening work is often required at our courses in Oxford and Bournemouth
Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom
A mother-tongue level of English in both speaking and writing
Desirable Skills and Experience:
A valid driving licence
A broad interest in many disciplines, such as language, science, and art
Experience of material development
Knowledge of other languages

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Educated to degree level (in any discipline)
CELTA or Trinity TESOL, or recognised equivalent
Delta or Trinity Diploma, or recognised equivalent**

At Summer Boarding Courses, all staff are invited to participate in training programmes which further their professional horizons. As such, the right candidate may be considered without a TEFLQ (i.e. Delta or Trinity Diploma, or equivalent), on the provision of an agreement to undertake future study of a diploma level qualification.
As part of our continuing professional development programme, we invite staff to regularly review and evaluate their roles so as to identify professional opportunities which will enable them to achieve their full potential. A full role evaluation will be offered to the Academic Programme Manager in September 2018.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: £30,000 p.a.
