Details of Position
United College is a well-established, independent language training centre operating since 1992 in sunny Siracusa, on the east coast of Sicily. The College is British-run, a Cambridge English Language Preparation Centre and a Trinity College registered Examination Centre for both GESE and ISE exams.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our teaching, our professional and caring approach and the excellent reputation we have in the local area. The atmosphere at the College is friendly and informal and we offer a supportive environment for both students and teachers. Our DOS is always on hand for help and advice and we have monthly training sessions to boost professional development.
We are looking for a qualified and experienced E.F.L. teacher for young learners, general English, Cambridge and Trinity preparation as well as in-company and online courses. Applicants need to be good team workers, enthusiastic, positive and organised with a professional approach and genuinely dedicated to helping our students learn English. This is a face-to-face position at our school in Siracusa, with some teaching in other locations nearby or online.
Qualifications
TEFL Certificate
Degree plus CELTA or Trinity TESOL/TEFL certificate.
Minimum one year's teaching in a language school.
EU citizenship or existing right to work in Italy.
Full valid driving licence is a requirement.
A basic knowledge of Italian is a bonus.
Salary and Benefits
Salary dependent on experience
Up to 25 teaching hours (5 days a week, Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday lunchtime) including 2 hours per month for meetings or training. Contract runs from mid-September 2026 to mid-June 2027. Summer work and renewal in September 2027 an option.
Starting salary from 1,300 net per month depending on experience.
Paid holidays at Christmas, Easter and bank holidays.
Accommodation in a beautiful seaside apartment opposite Ortigia within walking distance of the school (400/month not including bills). Teachers will have their own one bedroomed or two bedroomed flats.
School car available for personal use at the weekends.
