Emerald English School is a successful, well-established language school located in the centre of the city of Lugo. Lugo is an incredibly liveable and welcoming city, with a unique culture and rich history, in the northwest of Spain.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and committed teacher to join our team for the upcoming academic year. At Emerald, we are a friendly, adaptable and experienced team who strive to create an encouraging and productive working environment for both staff and students.
The role:
- 25 hours teaching per week
- Students aged 4 to adult, with a maximum of 10 students per class
- General English, Cambridge exam preparation, Oxford Test of English preparation (A2-C1)
- Deliver engaging, interesting and well prepared classes
- Training and support provided
- Peer and DoS observation and feedback
- Materials provided
We are looking for someone who is:
- Interested, enthusiastic and committed to teaching
- Motivated to help students achieve their goals
- Comfortable teaching young learners, teens and adults
- A team player with a positive, professional attitude
- A native level English speaker
- A holder of an EU passport or Spanish residency (sadly, we cannot sponsor someone from outside of the EU, including the UK)
Previous teaching experience is preferred, but not necessary as training can be provided.
Knowledge of Cambridge exams and/or Oxford Test of English is also preferred.
Qualifications
- CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent
- 1+ year teaching experience - preferred
- University degree - preferred
- B1+ Spanish - preferred
- EU nationals or non-EU citizens with a valid Spanish work permit or TIE. UK/US citizens can only work in Spain if they are currently resident and have an TIE identification number.
Salary and Benefits
- Initial contract length - academic year 2026/2027 September to June
- 1200 net monthly salary
- 25 hours teaching hours weekly, Monday to Friday
- Mornings or afternoons depending on timetable
- Holidays: approx. 2 weeks at Christmas, 1 week at Easter and all national bank holidays paid
