Job Description
We seek a Senior Teacher native/near-native English speaker with expertise in exam preparation and young learners, who has taught in a reputable private language school, and holds an EU passport. Relevant Degree, CELTA and 5 years' experience required. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, professional, and eager to advance their career at our school. Wewelcome teachers who intend to take their DELTA while at our school as we are the CELTA centre for the area and will offer training to become a CELTA Tutor.

The job requires teaching primary children, teens, adults, companies in groups and individual classes. A specialisation in teaching YL and writing for exam prep required. We are the Cambridge centre for the area and many of our courses are exam prep, hence we welcome Cambridge examiners or offer Cambridge Speaking Examiner training. He/she would support the DoS in organising CPD sessions for our teachers.

About Us
Anderson House is a quality language school member of AISLi - the circuit of quality language schools in Italy. The school was established in 1996 and has been a limited company (srl) since 2006. We are a Cambridge Platinum Centre and deliver 6,000 exams per year. We are a CELTA Centre and pride ourselves on professional development, supportive teamwork, and an inspiring learning environment. We have a DoS, ten English teachers and teachers of Spanish, French and German. Approximately 30% of the turnover is teaching and 70% Cambridge exams. We have nine classrooms, a computer room and a teachers' resource room. We offer high level exam preparation, general English, business courses, and intercultural training. The school is run by the owner Peter Anderson, his wife Antonella Ottonelli, a commercial manager, a marketing manager, a front office secretary and two members of staff who run the Cambridge exams.

Other services
AH is the Cambridge Centre for Bergamo and province, therefore we offer training for Cambridge Speaking Examiners. We are a CELTA Centre and welcome teachers wo would like to become CELTA Tutors. We organize intercultural training such as Communicating Across Cultures, Country-specific workshops, ICE (Intercultural Competence in English). We are members of AISLi (the Association of Quality Language Schools in Italy), CONFINDUSTRIA Bergamo, IATEFL YLSIG and TEASIG, founder members of the Extensive Reading Association Italy. We have been running an Extensive Reading project at the school for children and adults since 2023.

Bergamo
Bergamo has an international airport which serves low-cost airlines (the Ryanair hub for Northern Italy). It is in the centre of Lombardy, near the North Italian lakes, the Alps and Milan (30 miles). It is part of an industrial belt that goes from Varese through Milan, on to Bergamo and Brescia - but has plenty of countryside, hills and beautiful mountains. Bergamo has a medieval Upper Town called Citta Alta surrounded by Venetian walls; a splendid renaissance square (Piazza Vecchia) and one of the top-ten provincial museums in Italy called Pinacoteca Carrara which has recently been refurbished. If you are interested in food, Italy is the place to be; there are excellent restaurants and pizzerias in Bergamo and the surrounding area and good wine. Atalanta - the Bergamo football team - are in Serie A, therefore you can see top-class football here. Bergamo also has a women's volleyball team; an American Football team - Lions, and are crazy about cycling: the Giro d'Italia is very popular here. As for rugby you need to go to Brescia which is nearby. There is also a piano festival and Bergamo is the birthplace of Donizetti. The Bergamasks describe themselves as (in Bergamasque): 'Rasa bergamasca, fiama de rar, sota la sender brasca' - "The Bergamasque race, seldom ablaze, under the ashes embers" that is a quiet, introvert people of Alpine stock - somewhat rugged and grim at times, but once they get to know you, they become friends for life. Bergamasks are famous in Italy for being extremely hard-working and love manufacturing things. Industry is well developed here (steel and mechanical industry, seamless tubes, cement, tractors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, electrical components, furniture, looms, textile, etc). Most of our client companies are Bergamasque SMEs.

Further qualifications
We are particularly interested in hiring a teacher who specialise in teaching YLs, who is passionate about teaching writing, uses Joint Construction and knows how to correct and assess writing for Cambridge, IELTS and TOEFL. Furthermore, knowledge of intercultural communication and soft skills is welcome as we would like to develop this with the AISLi FUTURESKILLS Agency for teaching children and teenagers. Knowledge of Italian useful; driving license and being a capable driver essential (do NOT apply if you are NOT an experienced driver, please, as some driving is involved).

Salary
Salary from Euro 1600 net (with severance pay at end of school contract Euro 1000) depending on experience and qualifications. Full-time ANINSEI contract from 21 September 2026 to 12 June 2027 (ideal if you teach in a UK summer school). The contract could eventually turn into a full-time full-year permanent job. We own a flat within walking distance from the school (Euro 650 a month heating included - excluding utilities): kitchen, sitting room, bedroom, bathroom on the third floor (no lift). TV and internet connection.
