Discovery Summer is recruiting a committed professional Director of Studies for a residential summer post at Shrewsbury School, Shropshire. You will need a TEFLQ Qualification, e.g. Cambridge DELTA, Trinity LTCL Diploma TESOL, or MA in Linguistics/TESOL (incl. 5 hours supervised teaching practice) plus a minimum 3 years' EFL teaching experience with international young learners/teens.

You will be responsible for the high-quality and smooth running of a forward-thinking, stimulating and varied academic programme. You will be passionate about teaching and learning and committed to ensuring classes are engaging and help students develop accuracy, fluency and most importantly, confidence in spoken English.

You will lead and manage a small team of teachers, providing professional development opportunities for them and ensuring all academic administration is effectively completed. Most of our teachers are highly experienced and have worked with us before. In 2025, 70% of our staff were returners.

You will be a member of the Senior Management Team at the centre - this role requires a high standard of commitment and professionalism.

Shrewsbury School, Shropshire (11-16 years) Sat 27 June - Wed 29 July

Duties:

• Line manage a team of approx 5 teachers
• Ensure the academic programme at the centre is delivered according to Discovery Summers high standards

The working week:
-Residential staff work a 6-day week
-1 x 24-hour period off per week. (Sundays)
-Some time off on working days
-Free meals and accommodation at the school worth £77.70 per week

Cambridge DELTA

• A first degree in any discipline
• TEFLQ Qualification, e.g. Cambridge DELTA, Trinity LTCL Diploma TESOL, or MA in Linguistics/TESOL (incl. 5 hours supervised teaching practice)
• Candidates with a CELTA/Trinity TESOL who are working towards e.g. Cambridge DELTA will be considered
• Minimum 3 years' EFL teaching experience with international young learners/teens

• £950 gross per week (£848 + 12.07% holiday pay)
• Pre-course payment £320 + discretionary performance related bonus
• Free meals and accommodation worth £77.70 per week
• 3 day induction, paid pro rata
• Work as a part of a strong team
