This is an opportunity to work in a British Council Teaching Centre as a Teacher of English for young learner and adult students, employed via a reputed third party, who are able to provide you with a visa to work in Yangon, Myanmar.
Role Purpose
To maintain and enhance professional development and academic quality in the teaching center, through the management of in-house teacher development programme and support
To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience
To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission
Overview
British Council Myanmar has around 2500 young learner students and around 800 adult learners studying face to face and online.
The Myanmar teaching centre is located in Yangon. Young learner and adult classes are delivered across three centres in Yangon at the main office on Kanna Road, at Junction City, and at British School Yangon. Classes are also delivered online to our adult learners throughout the day and our YL learners in the evenings.
In Myanmar there is an approximate 50/50 split between Primary (aged 7-11) and Secondary (12-17). We deliver Primary Plus and Secondary Plus courses with the aim of developing confidence and ability in English whilst considering the childs development into a well-rounded individual living in the 21st century. The academic year runs from late April to March, with short courses delivered during the summer (Thingyan) break in April. All YL classes are two hours long, and the majority take place on Saturdays and Sundays. There is also a large number of YL classes Monday to Friday, but they are mostly in the evening.
There is a strong culture of professional development amongst our teaching team. Teachers are expected to attend quarterly training sessions and INSET programmes. The academic management team are expected to deliver high quality training and to support teachers via line management and observations.

Responsibilities & Main Duties
Plan and deliver high quality English language lessons which meets the needs of different customer groups, taking into account individual learning styles up to the number of contracted teaching hours
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy and sense of progress
Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team
Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards
Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain British Councils position at the forefront of best ELT practices
Contribute to the development of lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by enhancing students understanding of contemporary UK
Assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service and upholding British Council Values and Behaviours
Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:

Cambridge CELTA/ Trinity Cert TESOL
University degree in any discipline

Recognised diploma in EFL i.e., Cambridge DELTA/Trinity Dip TESOL

Experience in teaching relevant age groups:

The post holder must have the right to work in Myanmar. In order to obtain a work visa from the Myanmar Immigration Department, expatriate post holders must have:
A university degree
Recognised teaching qualification e.g. Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL
At least two years teaching experience
Passport must be valid for a minimum of TWO years from employment start date and contain at least SIX consecutive blank pages for visa to be issued.
The contract is conditional based on approval of the work visa.
Work schedule
The working week is defined as any five consecutive days with a two-day weekend and 20 or 24 hours teaching delivery each week. Working hours may involve regular evenings up to 9:45pm and will involve online delivery for adult and/or YL classes according to operational needs in Myanmar. As such you will be working closely with colleagues based in Myanmar or other countries.
Salary and Benefits
20-hour contract: USD 1,088 + supplement (GBP 537.50), USD 1,426 + supplement (GBP 604.17) per month depending on experience
24-hour contract: USD 1,305 + supplement (GBP 645), USD 1,711 + supplement (GBP 725) per month depending on experience
Annual leave of 35 + 15 days of paid leave
Accommodation allowance of USD400 per calendar month for unaccompanied employee or employee with partner (couple) / Accommodation allowance of USD535 per calendar month for accompanied employee with child(ren)
Flight cost will be sponsored for the incoming and at the end of the fixed term contract of employment with British Council Myanmar
Baggage allowances up to £1,200 for unaccompanied employees / up to £2,000 for employees accompanied by family members.
Entitled to a settling-in allowance equivalent to two weeks salary for single employees, or three weeks salary for employees accompanied by family members, to help you to meet your initial expenses on first arrival in Myanmar.
