Churchill House has a reputation for delivering high-quality English language courses, gained through our teachers working hard; planning and delivering professional, well-planned, fun and interesting lessons. Teachers must continue that good work and always remember that the aim of the lesson is always to stretch their students abilities. If at any time a teacher needs support, their teaching colleagues and management will do whatever they can to help.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic teaching staff to work at our 4 British Council and English UK accredited summer centres across the South East of England from the beginning of July until mid-August.
We are looking for applicants who are committed and have a genuine interest in teaching young learners. Previous summer school experience is welcome although not essential. It is a great environment for newly qualified teachers as there is a lot of support and many opportunities for development; a wonderful way to launch your TEFL career!

Qualifications

For Teachers:
A Degree
TEFLi certificate, for example, CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL: a certificate externally validated and with at least 100 hour of input and at least 6 hours supervised teaching practice with real students, or PGCE ELT/TESOL subsidiary and EFL teaching experience, or University Certificate in ELT/TESOL course and EFL teaching experience

Applicants without a degree but who hold a relevant EFL teaching qualification and experience may be considered. If you do not have any of the above qualifications, please consider our other summer roles and send us your CV to see if we have any suitable positions.

Salary and Benefits

Weekly rate based on the amount of teaching experience gained after successful completion of
TEFLi course: £560 (<2 yrs post TEFLi experience) to £600 (2+ yrs experience, defined as a minimum 2 academic years + 4 weeks summer school) plus 12.07% holiday pay.
Full board residential accommodation is provided free of charge.
Salary is paid weekly in arrears; holiday pay is payable in final salary.
Relocation bonus If we need you to move to another centre mid summer we will pay a £100 bonus plus all travel expenses
Returner Bonus: Teachers who worked for Churchill House previously will receive a £100 Returner Bonus, paid with their first payroll.
Teachers whose qualifications meet British Council TEFLQ requirements (e.g. DELTA/Dip.TESOL, MA
TESOL) will receive an additional £20 per full teaching week

Job Summary

Teach 15 hours contact time per week or 30 hours if on a zig zag programme
Plan and implement schemes of work and lesson plans in support of the above
Participate fully, actively, enthusiastically and effectively in activities, excursions, or pastoral care duties. These duties are seen as having equal importance to teaching duties.
The standard working week is 48 hours including 15 hours contact teaching, 6 hours of planning time, and 26 hours pastoral/activities.
