Throughout our series of summer school courses, students learn to tackle new challenges; to explore new experiences; to step outside their comfort zone and to overcome barriers. They learn how to achieve positive change for themselves, their friends, their families, their colleagues and, ultimately, for society as a whole.

We have two different teaching roles available:

EFL Teachers:
- To prepare and teach up to 5 hours of lessons each weekday (25 contact hours per week) and depending on the course. The working day includes up to 3 hours of preparation and admin time (depending on course).
- On a rota basis to carry out mealtime supervision and wake-up duties
- One excursion or airport duty on the weekend, where possible early return for extra prep time
- To attend one 30-minute CPD session per week

Subject Teachers:
- To prepare and deliver lessons in their specialist subject(such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Business or Humanities)
- Maximum teaching contact time of up to 25 hours per week
- Allocated pep and admin time per day plus meeting and CPD time
- One excursion or airport duty on the weekend, where possible early return for extra prep time
- On a rota basis to carry out mealtime supervision and wake-up duties

Senior Teacher roles may also be available for DELTA or equivalent qualified teachers with a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a wide range of contexts. Senior Teachers work closely with the DoS, helping the Teachers plan high-quality lessons and assist with the smooth running of the EFL Department. Senior Teachers teach as and when required a maximum teaching contact time of up to 25 hours per week.

- Native / near-native competence in English (written and spoken)is mandatory
- University degree or equivalent (for Subject teachers: University degree in one of the STEM subject such as Sociology, Philosophy or Psychology, Business or the Humanities)
- CELTA, Trinity TESOL or Accreditation UK recognised equivalent or PGCE (in English or MFL)
- DELTA, CELTAYL, QTS (primary or secondary) are particularly welcomed
- Minimum of 1 year teaching experience
- Previous residential summer school experience and experience of teaching mixed nationality groups is preferred
- Must be eligible to work in the UK (EU citizens need settled/pre settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme or be in possession of a "Frontier Worker Permit" or another work visa. BSS cannot support any visa applications.

Salary and Benefits

Salaries vary depending on role and are in line with industry standards. All salaries exceed minimum wage.
