Job Summary
Details of Position
Each year approximately 1000 adult students with an average of 11 weeks stay study with us from up to 50 different naitionalities. We accommodate 150 - 350 students at any one time and we strive to always have a motivating and student-focused environment where we can offer a great service to all that study with us.
We would like to appoint a new Assistant Director of Studies to help lead our Academic team and fulfil our business development goals.
The Assistant Director of Studies is responsible for helping to deliver a high-quality academic programme as well as helping to line-manage and support a team of 20+ teachers. This means ensuring the implementation, smooth running, administration and ultimately successful delivery of all aspects of the academic programme. The ADOS plays a key role in the management structure of Celtic English Academy and is therefore expected to fulfil a demanding workload.

The general responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Teaching 6-22.25 hours per week
- Helping to manage the teaching staff
- Observing teachers and providing them with feedback
- Delivering in-house training sessions
- Maintaining, updating and improving resources
- Course development
- Supporting the DoS with the smooth day to day running of the academy
- Run the Academy OET exam centre as Venue Manager
- Deputise for DoS duties, as instructed
- Degree Required
- Required qualifications:
- Cambridge CELTA, Cambridge DELTA, Trinity DipTESOL, Cambridge DELTA Online, Trinity CertTESOL.
- Teaching experience:
- 3 years
- Native level English speaker preferred
Qualifications
- TEFL Q Status (Undergraduate Degree and Diploma-ELT/ TESOL qualification e.g. Delta/ Trinity Dip TESOL)
- Undergraduate Degree (2.1 or 1st Class)
- Initial ELT/ TESOL qualification e.g CELTA or Cert TESOL
- We may be willing to accept candidates who have completed a substantial part of a diploma level qualification such as modules 1 and 2 of the Delta and who are working towards completion of the qualification
- At least 3 years teaching experience some of which should have been gained abroad
- One year working as an ADoS or 2 years experience working as a senior teacher
Education/training/qualifications (Desirable)
- MA Applied Linguistics
- First Aid certificate
- Safeguarding Children Level 1 Certificate
- Enhanced DBS or CRB certificate
Knowledge (Essential)
- Good knowledge of academic trends in the ELT industry
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- Good knowledge and experience of working online using Zoom, Teams etc
Knowledge (Desirable)
- Knowledge of marketing or business development
Experience (Essential)
A minimum of three years teaching experience in total to include:
- A minimum of 1 years ELT Management experience as an ADoS or minimum of 2 years working as a senior teacher and
- A minimum of 1 year teaching EFL abroad
- Experience teaching IELTS
Experience (Desirable)
- Course development and delivery
- Teaching in areas including: YL, Business English, Cambridge Exam suite, EAP, Teacher Training, Online teaching, one to one
- Testing and placement of students
- Observing teachers (with feedback)
- Designing and delivering bespoke programmes
- CPD management and experience of delivering in-house teacher training
- Some experience of preparing for external inspections
