Job Title: ENGLISH COUNSELOR/TEACHER (Language Instructor and Group Leader)

2 week contracts available as below:

2 weeks - 10th July 2022 till 24th July 2022



Reports to: Activity Coordinator and TEFL Coordinator and at times Camp Director.

Responsible for: Groups of up to 20 children.



We work hand in hand with the best English learning summer villages in Italy, if not in Europe, we pride ourselves in the quality of our classes. The main role of a summer village teacher is to thoroughly plan and execute 3 hours of top quality English classes to their class of approximately 20 students each day. We use our own resources and custom course books specific to each village, age and level in our summer villages which have been developed by teachers over the years. Along with our excellent resources we provide an intensive training weekend for teachers and ongoing support and professional development from our managers to ensure that teachers are able to succeed in creating the most fun, dynamic and learning centred classes possible for their group of students.



However, counselors in our Summer Villages don't just teach and plan; they are also involved in other parts of the day with the students such as supervising meal times, facilitating project sessions, and they will even cover for monitors at times.

English Village counselors need to be young, or young at heart, individuals who are full of imagination, passion and energy in order to meet the extraordinary demands of village work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The counselor has to be an enthusiastic, motivated, reliable English speaker and love working with teenagers (12-16 years). This is not a traditional teaching position as English is also taught through games, sports, drama, songs, arts and crafts. The counsellors own creativity, input and ideas are essential for making the summer camp experience more enjoyable for all the participants.

Counselors are responsible for leading the students during lessons, organizing, promoting and running the English lessons (ratio 1:20) and all the daily and evening activities on camp, as well as encouraging and motivating them to participate in the leisure program. They must be fantastic team players and role models to the students whilst demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm when escorting students on the camp.

Counselors must be also able to cooperate with and refer to the Campus Coordinator to ensure smooth running of the center and high level of student satisfaction.



Requirements:

Native or native level English speaker

Eligible to work in Italy
Certified as a qualified English teacher
Enthusiastic and positive about the role
A creative thinker
Excellent communication skills
Able to work both as individual and part of a team
Energetic and quick to learn with a solid work ethic
Flexible and trustworthy
Previous experience as Teacher or Summer Camps Activity Leader is desirable
Aptitude for working with teenagers (aged 12-16)

Counselors are requested to arrive 2 days before the selected period and will leave the camp one day after.
