Language Study Centres is a British Council accredited organisation which runs courses in various locations around the UK. We're currently looking for exciting and reliable Centre Management Staff and Activity Leaders to join our summer centres in 2020.
Details of Position
Language Study Centres are recruiting driven, enthusiastic, energetic and responsible Centre Managers, Student Welfare Officers, Activity Managers, Activity Leaders, Accommodation Officers and Chinese Liaison Officers at our British Council accredited ELT centres set within picturesque locations across the United Kingdom between June and August. These exciting and challenging residential positions provide staff with competitive pay, modern facilities, excellent accommodation with meals included, as well as continuous professional development.
Language Study Centres (LSC) has been running summer programmes in the UK for Young learners (YL) since 2000. In 2015, LSC became part of STS Education; a Swedish company with over fifty years experience in the industry. Specialising in Summer Schools, LSC operates a number of centres across the UK, welcoming students from over 26 countries across the world. These centres offer students an excellent Academic programme, an exciting social programme and the chance to make memories they will never forget.
We are inviting applications from Centre Managers, Activity Managers, Student Welfare Officers, Accommodation Officers, Activity Leaders and Chinese Liaison Officers for several seasonal positions. These are residential positions. All Centre Staff will be provided with en-suite accommodation and full board. The role is for six days a week and working hours will include evenings and weekends.

CENTRE STAFF POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
The Centre Manager is the key LSC member of staff on campus and will have the overall responsibility in ensuring that the centre is a success.
Duties will include acting as the company representative to clients, completing important admin duties, managing the team of LSC Staff and ensuring that the summer operation conforms to British Council accreditation standards.
Activity Managers are the event planners, sports organisers, and the brains behind making the LSC social programme an unforgettable student experience.
Duties will include running a smooth social programme, managing and observing the activity leaders as well as carrying out LSCs safeguarding policies.
Student Welfare Officer
The Welfare Officer focuses on the care, safety and wellbeing of the students at the centre whilst maintaining school rules, policies and procedures.
Duties include making sure student supervision remains consistent, being aware of special requirements, installing emergency procedures, completing risk assessments and acting as the centres Safeguarding Officer.
The Accommodation Officer will allocate International students to LSC accommodation and ensuring that their living conditions are constantly met to a high standard.
Duties include actively promoting good safeguarding practices, controlling accommodation and liaising with the Local Agent and Campus Manager.
Chinese Liaison Officer
The Chinese Liaison Officer will look after the welfare of Chinese students and ensure proper safeguarding,planning activities and leading trips across the UK.
Duties include actively promoting good safeguarding practices for Chinese students, and leading student activities as well acting liaising with Chinese agents.
LSC Activity Leaders are responsible for entertaining, guiding and leading the students through a variety of activities and excursions.
Duties include planning and taking part in activities/excursions on and off site, safeguarding the students as well as helping to supervise meals and perform curfew duties.
LSC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. As part of our Safer Recruitment Policy you will be asked to explain any gaps in your work and education history. You will also be required to undergo a DBS Enhanced Disclosure check and provide the contact details of at least 2 referees, who will be asked specifically if they have any concerns about your suitability to work with people under 18. Evidence of eligibility to work in the UK must be provided at interview stage. The cost of the DBS will be split between LSC and yourself, your contribution will be £22.40 and will be taken out of your first payment.
This role meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All applicants who are offered employment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Serviced check before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings as well as convictions.
All successful candidates will need to attend an induction and complete LSCs Level 1 Safeguarding training.
Activity Managers, Student Welfare Officers, Chinese Liaison Officers and Accommodation Officers - Ideal candidates will have previous managerial experience as well as having mentored young learners within a residential setting before.
Centre Managers-Ideal candidates will have a degree and have previous experience of managing a British Council accredited centre. They should also possess a full UK driving license.
All Centre staff should:
-Have the full right to work in the UK
-Be available throughout July and depending on the centre, perhaps mid-June
-Be motivated, dedicated and professional
-Care about the welfare of Young Learners
-Demonstrate proven organisational skills
-Be computer efficient
Contracts typically run between 4 and 9 weeks. However, our peak period runs from late June - mid August and priority will be given to those available to complete most of these weeks during this period. All staff are contracted to work 6 days a week and at least 8 hours a day.
Salary and Benefits
Centre Manager - Weekly pay ranges from £620 - £720 (which includes statutory holiday pay at 12.07% and full board accommodation).
Activity Manager - Weekly pay ranges from £460 - £530 (which includes statutory holiday pay at 12.07% and full board accommodation).
Student Welfare Officer - Weekly pay is £440 (which includes statutory holiday pay at 12.07% and full board accommodation).
Accommodation Officers - Weekly pay is £440 (which includes statutory holiday pay at 12.07% and full board accommodation).
Chinese Liaison Officer - Weekly pay is £440 (which includes statutory holiday pay at 12.07% and full board accommodation).
Activity Leader - Weekly ranges between £289.57 - £411.68 dependent on age (which includes statutory holiday pay at 12.07% and full board accommodation).
