Job Summary

St. Andrews College Language Schools is a British Council Accredited provider, running summer school courses in 15 locations across the UK. We are looking for experienced, flexible and supportive Directors of Studies and Senior Teachers with good leadership skills, excellent management and interpersonal skills and a high level of computer literacy to lead our centres in summer 2020.

We have centres in Edinburgh,Glasgow,Stirling,Leeds,London,Kent,Colchester,Nottingham,Gloucester & Brighton.

Details of Position

DIRECTOR OF STUDIES
The Director of Studies is responsible for the implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic programme, including the management of the teaching team and their performance. This is a management position and you should therefore expect a demanding workload. Working hours are spread over a 40-hour working week. The dates, days and times may vary according to the needs of the campus.

The role incorporates the following:
Ensuring the safety and welfare of all students at all times.
With the other members of the on-campus management team, ensuring that a high-quality, collegiate programme is delivered, following our guidelines, integrating lessons and activities where possible
Overall management of the academic programme and teaching team, ensuring it is of the highest standard possible, so students derive the maximum benefit from their course.


Full lesson plans and materials are provided and have been specifically designed to fit the needs of our students and teachers. Lessons are task-based and communicative and integrate 21st Century skills, such as digital literacy, critical thinking and engagement with real-world issues and affairs. Teaching hours are spread over a 40-hour working week. Student contact hours will, on average, be 36 hours per week. Administration (e.g. meetings, updating records of work, etc.) and lesson preparation time, is included within the 40 hours contract week.

SENIOR TEACHER
The Senior Teacher is responsible for assisting the Director of Studies/Academic Manager in the implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic programme, including the management of the teaching team and their performance. This is a management position and you should therefore expect a demanding workload. Working hours are spread over a 40-hour working week.

The role incorporates the following:
Ensuring the safety and welfare of all students at all times.
With the other members of the on-campus management team, ensuring that a high-quality, collegiate programme is delivered, following our guidelines, integrating lessons and activities where possible.
Supporting the Director of Studies/Academic Manager in the overall management of the academic programme and teaching team, ensuring it is of the highest standard possible, so students derive the maximum benefit from their course.
Delivering our in-house designed Teacher Training Workshops for Group Leaders.

While this is a non-teaching role, the Senior Teachers are the first in line for cover in the event of absence. St. Andrews College Language Schools is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All successful candidates are required to provide criminal checks including a valid PVG/Enhanced DBS Certificate and/or overseas police checks.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Awareness of the responsibilities of working with students who are under the age of 18.
Educated to degree level (Level 6) +
Cambridge DELTA* or Trinity College London, Dip TESOL* or
PGCE TEFL/TESOL* or a taught post-graduate course (MA equivalent) in TEFL/TESOL, including at least 6 hours of supervised teaching practice (TEFL-Q Status)
Computer literate and able to deal with large amounts of data
Able to adapt quickly to change
At least 3 years full-time EFL experience
Smart and tidy appearance.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
Over three years full-time EFL experience
Proven competence in academic leadership
Proven people management skills
Proven competence in administration

Salary and Benefits

Director of Studies: £625.00 per week
Senior Tecaher : £545.00 per week
