Job Summary

Bucksmore Education - an award winning Education provider (Language Educator of the Year 2019 PIEoneer awards) are hiring engaging, motivated Centre Management staff for memorable BC accredited Junior EFL, Leadership. Professional and and pre-University programmes teaching students aged 10-18 for summer 2020 in prestigious residential settings around the UK and USA.

Details of Position

FAO all applicants, during this unprecedented situation regarding Coronavirus - Bucksmore Education ultimately take the health of students and staff as a priority. We are following all UK (and USA) government guidelines, advice and recommendations as well as the situation internationally. We are still planning to run centres as scheduled but events are out of our control with regards to the ability to travel for all staff and students concerned.

Bucksmore Education, part of the Oxford International Education Group of companies, are recruiting for the roles of Centre Manager, Activity Manager, Director of Studies and Academic Manager for our prestigious EFL, Leadership, Professional and pre-University summer schools in Cambridge, Oxford, London and the surrounding areas.

The Centre Manager (CM) is responsible for the day-to-day management of a centre and is responsible for its smooth running. It is the most senior post at the centre. The CM is in charge of all aspects of the centre, from managing finance, budgets, staffing and accommodation, dealing with clients and liaising with College staff.

The Activity Manager role is to plan and organise the activity programme and effectively manage the Counsellors involved in each activity. Working closely with the Centre Manager and Director of Studies, the Activity Manager helps to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the centre. This role also requires the ability to keep track of weekly activity budgets as set by head office.

The Director of Studies (DoS) and Academic Manager play an integral part in ensuring the smooth running of the academic programmes and the centre itself. We are therefore looking for high calibre individuals who can help us maintain the high standards we have set for ourselves, our staff and our students.

Bucksmore Education welcomes individual students and small groups from over 75 different countries. For our students it is a fully immersive English language learning experience as they live, study and play as part of an international community.

Bucksmore Education has been running well regarded, high-quality residential summer schools since 1979 and are now into our 41st year. The results of our 2017 inspection put us in the top 10% of all English language schools accredited by the British Council.

The level of our programmes and courses have been acknowledged and recognised by the PIE following Bucksmores win at the 2019 PIEoneer awards where we won the 'Language Educator of the Year' Award

Because of the 'boutique' nature of the camps and small number of students staff have the chance to really get to know and inspire the students.

We are also running courses in New York - Leman Manhattan (USA) and more information about these roles are available on request. Staff on our USA courses must have the right to work in the USA and no ineligible applicants will be considered.

Referees will be asked specifically whether there is any reason that you should not be employed in situations where you have responsibility for under 18s.

Once appointed you will be required to provide evidence of your ID, qualifications and provide two references. You will also be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check or its equivalent from you country of residence. Bucksmore charge approximately 50% of the cost of a DBS check (£25) which is deducted from payroll.

Qualifications

Centre Manager -

Essential:
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- University Degree or equivalent
- Experience of working/managing on a residential programme
-Commitment and enthusiasm for working with young people in an international setting

Desirable:
- First aid qualification
- Training in Child Safeguarding
- Driving Licence

Activity Manager:

Essential:
- University Degree or equivalent
- Social activities and/or Sports management experience
- Experience of working/managing on a residential programme and language programmes for the Activity Manager role
- Commitment and enthusiasm for working with young people in an international setting

Desirable:
- Sports and coaching qualifications
- First aid qualification
- Training in Child Safeguarding
- Driving Licence

Director of Studies/Academic Manager:

Essential:
- Experience of working/managing on a residential language programme
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment and enthusiasm for working with young people in an international setting
- DELTA or CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL and QTS and 3 years' teaching experience
- University degree
- Observation and staff development experience

Desirable:
- First aid qualification
- Training in Child Safeguarding
- Driving Licence

Salary and Benefits

Centre Managers/Course Director
Up to £884.49 per week - £700 per week basic pay + 12.07% holiday pay per week (£84.49) + up to £100 performance related weekly bonus.

Activity Manager
Up to £641.56 per week - £510 basic pay + 12.07% holiday pay per week (£61.76) + up to £70 performance related weekly bonus.

Directors of Studies - Diploma qualified (TEFLQ status)
Up to £731.21 per week - £590 basic pay + 12.07% holiday pay per week (£71.21) + up to £70 performance related weekly bonus.

Academic Manager (Non TEFLQ status role)
Up to £641.56 per week - £510 basic pay + 12.07% holiday pay per week (£61.76) + up to £70 performance related weekly bonus.


Bucksmore also include a yearly returning staff bonus for up to four years.

Training and senior staff induction is provided prior to the start of a centre. As all positions are residential, accommodation and full board meals are provided.
