Job Summary

Part-time DOS Director of Studies in a small, friendly EFL school in SW London.

Details of Position

Richmond English School is looking for a Director of Studies, for around 10 hours per week
combining teaching with office duties after the morning classes.

The latter would include things such as post class chats with any new students, helping out with inductions, student tutorials etc. Other duties will also include managing observations and CPD, but we are a very small outfit and this would not require nearly as much of your time as it would in a larger school. The essential thing initially is that you are playing an active part in the of the day to day life of the school, and are on site several times a week at our peak times in order to advise students and other teachers.

The hours would be 09:45-13:15, so the 10 hours would be over a 3 day a week, and one of those days would need to be Friday so that you can take part in the end of week round-up. The other 2 days would be up to you, and although it would be preferred if you came in on the same days each week, some flexibility could be built in if you had (e.g.) childcare or other teaching responsibilities.

It is essential that you are a TEFL Q qualified, with either a DELTA or a PGCE focussed on ESOL or Modern Languages, as well as having a CELTA and a minimum of 3 years experience teaching in a school offering similar courses to ours, which are mainly Cambridge and IELTS classes.

This is a role with the potential to grow into a full-time, contracted role over time as the school hopes to expand.

We are in Mortlake in the London borough of Richmond, and easy to reach on the overland SW trains line. Our nearest station is Mortlake, which is about 2 mins away, and Barnes Bridge is about 10 mins away. We are also on the bus routes on the Lower and Upper Richmond roads.

Candidate will need to meet TEFL Q criteria, which means you will need to have either:

Salary and Benefits

This would be offered on a self employed basis, and the rate would be negotiable depending on experience.
