A BIT ABOUT OUR SCHOOL:
We are a husband and wife team in our mid 30's with two English Language schools. Gaetano is Sicilian and the School Director while I'm Irish and the Director of Studies. Gaetano is based at our Caltagirone school and on hand for any administration support while I'm based at our Mazzarino school (a nearby town) where I teach. I will provide teaching support and guidance in our weekly meetings, along with a thorough induction and workshops throughout the year to encourage professional development, where you will meet Yasmine, our second teacher based in Mazzarino who's in her 3rd year with us.
We are supportive of all our staff and have a collaborative approach where the teacher will make an active contribution to the school. This role is perfect for someone who is proactive, resourceful, likes working independently and uses their iniative. The school is big and bright, decorated in London / USA theme and is situated in a prime location in the city.
With stunning views of the valley below, Caltagirone is one of the oldest cities in Sicily and where ceramic pottery was born. It's celebrated throughout the streets and shop windows, making the city centre very colourful and unique.
Built in Baroque style, the city is classified as an UNESCO world heritage site. Its most famous landmark is the magnificent Santa Maria del Monte stairs with 142 colourful ceramic steps which are adorned with candles, flowers and stars during festivals. On Saturdays, wander around the bustling markets while in the evenings, roam around the wide range of bars and restaurants. Well connected with buses and a train station, Caltagirone is a good location to visit other places of interests in Sicily. Sicilians are truly the warmest and the most hospitable people who are both curious and welcoming to foreigners. Being Irish myself, I feel right at home here and I'm in love with the food, weather and cheap and laid-back lifestyle.
