Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Junior Summer School at Fulneck School, Leeds, to deliver classes and supervise/participate with the students during afternoon activities.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a UK residential summer school setting, and/or experience with young learners.

Details of Position

1. The Role
Job title: Junior Summer School Teacher and Activities Leader
Contract: Temporary, Full time (up to 40 hours per week over 6 days, day off: Saturday or Sunday)
Report to: Academic Manager of summer school, main school Academic Manager
Line manager of: n/a
Interviews: ASAP
The purpose of role is to deliver morning classes and afternoon activities.
This could be a residential position at Fulneck School (Fulneck, Leeds, LS28 8DS).

2. Person specification
First degree
CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent (desirable)

Skills and Experience
Experience of working in a British Council accredited UK junior summer school
Proven ability to inspire young learners
Knowledge of the EFL industry
Ability to maintain clear channels of communication among team members
Excellent time management skills
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent IT skills, with an understanding of cloud-based technologies

3. Role, Duties and Responsibilities
Planning, Teaching and Materials Preparation
To deliver EFL lessons for young learners at the Junior Summer School, as per the weekly rota;
To prepare a weekly plan of teaching, and plan lessons accordingly;
To contribute to The Schools teaching resources by preparing supplementary materials as deemed necessary or requested, preserving and sharing them with the academic team for future use;
To plan and implement regular progress testing of students, according to the curriculum;
To assist the Academic Manager with the level testing of new students;
To record students progress and complete academic reports as requested by the Academic Manager.
Monitoring Students Progress
To regularly provide tutorial sessions for setting new goals for students and helping them reflect on their progress;
To confer with other members of the academic team on students progress as appropriate;
To report any need or request for level changes to the Academic Manager.
To accompany students on excursions and other free time activities, supervise them and ensure that the language skills development goals set for these sessions are met.
Administrative Duties
To ensure all weekly lesson logs, registers and further documents are completed fully and filed or submitted on time as appropriate;
To attend staff meetings.
Continuing Professional Development
To understand the importance of CPD for teachers;
To teach reflectively, and be open to constructive feedback.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: £350 per week (including holiday pay)
