Job Summary

Discovery Summer is looking for an inspiring and enterprising Course Director committed to delivering a high-quality, junior residential programme in a top UK boarding school. You will manage a team of approx. 15-25 staff.

4.5 to 5.5 weeks from late June/early July. Student age range varies by centre (8-17 years).

Gross salary up to £779 gross/week + guaranteed end of contract completion bonus £205/week + to £94/week statutory holiday pay + £425 for pre-course work + discretionary bonus.

Details of Position

Discovery Summer runs a range of high quality residential English language and Multi Activity summer courses for young learners/teenagers in top independent schools in England. Our students enjoy learning new language skills through a range of classes and activities in English.

We welcome students from over 60 countries each summer and limit the number from every language group. Nearly 30% of our students return each summer.

We want our students to explore and experience British Culture - up to 10% of students are British, our English Student Hosts.

In our July 2018 British Council inspection, we were awarded 14 from a possible 15 strengths placing us in the top tier of accredited language schools in the UK.

We provide a supportive and friendly environment - you will prepare for the summer alongside our dedicated Head Office team and take part in our Senior Staff Training Weekend in April.

Over 60% of our staff return each summer. The majority of our senior centre staff have worked with us previously - many for over 10 years.

Each centre brings together strong team-players who genuinely enjoy working creatively with children and teenagers.

You will be head of the senior management team on the course. This is a role that requires a high standard of professionalism and commitment.

You will be responsible for managing and leading the course effectively and for the safety and well-being of all course participants (students, English Student Hosts, staff, Group Leaders and Discovery Summer visitors). The staff/student ratio is at least 1:4.

You will work closely with Head Office to ensure the programme is successful, ensuring the needs of all parties are met and, wherever possible, exceeded.

Over the years we have built up excellent relationships with our host centres.

Please see our website (link below) for the full job description, online application form and details of the application process. To apply please complete the online application form where you can also upload your CV.
