You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, lively EFL lessons.
Student age range varies by centre (8-17 years). Gross salary depending on qualifications, experience and location: £441-£553/week + statutory holiday pay £53-£67/week + free board and lodging + discretionary bonus.
Details of Position
We welcome students from over 60 countries each summer and limit the number from every language group. Up to 10% of students are British, our English Student Hosts.
We provide a supportive and friendly environment. Over 60% of our staff return each summer. The majority of our senior centre staff have worked with us previously, many for over 10 years.
Each centre brings together strong team-players who genuinely enjoy working creatively with children and teenagers.
In our 2018 British Council inspection we were awarded 14 strengths out of a possible 15.
You will be teaching a mixture of English Skills + English Workshops each week.
Maximum class size is 12 international students + 1 English Student Host
English Skills- Topic based, graded classes (e.g. British culture, future societies, film & music) help develop core skills e.g. in using grammar, reading, writing, listening and building confidence in spoken English
English Workshops - English Workshops help students learn and develop by collaborating, discussing, researching and creating. They are fun, task-based sessions and encourage students to explore new areas and build confidence in important life skills e.g. problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork

First degree (any discipline)
CELTA, Trinity TESOL, BEd/PGCE (Primary Education, English or MFL) or EFL Level 5 equivalent
Ability to provide a clear and accurate model of the English language
Passionate about teaching and learning
Previous summer school experience/International school experience
Experience of teaching multi-lingual classes
Young Learner specialism e.g. TYLEC
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Capacity to work alongside colleagues, contributing effectively to a team
Ability to effectively motivate children and teenagers
Good administrative skills
Able to work comfortably in a fast paced, intensive environment
Committed to producing student centred, interactive classes
Organised and with high professional and personal standards
Culturally sensitive and genuinely enjoys working with young people
Open to receiving feedback and wants to develop new skills
Creative, energetic and fun
Salary and Benefits
Statutory holiday pay from £53 to £66 per week calculated at 12.07% of salary
Residential staff receive free board and lodging at our schools worth £52.85 per week
Residential staff eligible for a discretionary end of contract/performance bonus
Staff are given a thorough induction and performance is regularly reviewed
