Job Summary

The School, under the name of Academia, has been in operation for almost 10 years, and from 31 August will be operating as part of the growing British Study Centres network of franchise schools. The DoS will have overall responsibility for maintaining BSC's academic quality standards, developing teachers and communicating effectively with a local and international team. Details of Position

The Director of Studies has overall responsibility for the development and provision of the academic programme at the school. As a member of the centres management team, it is expected that in addition to the specified duties below, you will also endeavour to support the senior management team with the general overall running of the school and care of the students and clients that you may visit or host.

Your main purpose is to:

-Ensure that academic services provided are of the highest standard and are student focussed
-Develop courses to ensure that they are cost-effective, innovative and meet client and market needs
-Act as a channel of communication between BSC Kyrgyzstan and the wider BSC group
-Teach an allocated number of classes weekly

You will be line managing a teaching team of around 10 teachers; some native/non-native and full-time/hourly-paid. The size of the academic management team will vary as the student base grows, and as required, you may need to line manage the ADoS, Senior Teacher and/or Co-ordinators. You will need to liaise with the Head of Transnational Projects based in the UK on a monthly basis. You will need to manage the academic budget and be expected to travel occasionally to schools, fairs and events for meetings with potential students and clients.

Qualifications

A Cambridge Assessment English Delta or a Trinity DipTESOL is preferred, but alternatively, we will consider a Level 7 degree e.g. a Master's/Post Grad Cert. in ELT or related subjects.

The ideal candidate will be keen to gain ELT management experience and grow professionally, and will be hard-working and driven. He/she should have a good understanding of current developments in ELT, evidence of working in the language school sector, experience of delivering CPD/INSET programmes, and experience in designing courses and materials.

Having specific needs training and/or experience (e.g. Young Learners, Exam English, Business English) is preferred.

A very competitive local salary of USD 1200 is being offered.
