- Program Description :
The Opening to the world program, internally called OSM (OSM stands for Ouverture sur le Monde) is aimed at students from level 1 to level 12. This program is particularly important for the school and for the students as Happy Chandara School strictly follows the curriculum dictated by the Cambodian government.
Opening to the World is a curriculum developed by the school which aims to develop key values and skills (21st century skills) which will help students in their adult life.
The program (about 5 hours per week), which is being currently reviewed, integrates IT, library and audiovisual. It uses a project-based learning approach and aims to have a strong link to the reality of the Cambodian society. It deals with themes such as international politics, womens situation, environmental protection, health, and Cambodias development.
- Missions : The coordinator ensures the coherence of Happy Chandara's international "Opening to the world" program and the quality of its teaching. He/she also manages the libraries.
- Tasks and routine activities
* Program Management and Libraries
# Check, update and improve the teaching curriculum
# Ensure that the teaching materials are in line with the level and age of the students from level 1 to level 12, as well as with the values and skills we want to convey.
# Manage the libraries
o Check the availability of adequate equipment
o Ensure the proper organization of both material and human resources
o Manage book purchases as needed
o Develop the unit's budget and monitor it
# Coordinate the production of the Happy Girls magazine
* Team management and development
# Supervise and accompany a team of 12: librarians, teachers (OSM, Audio-visual, IT) and interns from primary school to high school and ensure quality teaching in:
o Revising lesson plans
o Observing teachers in their classrooms
o Listening and advising teachers when they encounter specific problems in their classrooms and help them find solutions mid to long term.
# Evaluate the teachers pedagogical teaching level to ensure rigor in their work and allow close follow up of their progress in order to help them improve (continuing training).
# Evaluate the work of librarians and their organization.
# Manage all requests (illness, holidays ...) and pass the information on to Human Resources.
# Ensure interdisciplinary work between different classes and subjects by working closely with the various coordinators and school life.
# Ensure the communication with management is flowing and relevant on all topics related to teaching methods, program advancement and pedagogy to enable qualitative improvement of teaching.
# Teach 12 hours/week and organize any replacement in case of illness / absence.
# Organize and take part in school events, outings and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening.
# Respect the school rules.
# Organize regular team meetings and participate in school meetings.
# Work collaboratively and flexibly with all employees.
# Organize and present intercultural training (Cambodian vs foreigners) to new expatriates.
# Good knowledge in pedagogy - project based learning
# Experience in teaching. Coordinator experience is a definite advantage
# From native English or fluent English, French would be a plus
# Sensitivity to cultural differences. A first expatriation is an advantage
- Qualities and competencies required : Curious and interested in the world and its current evolutions
# Enjoys team work and team management
# Analytical mind
- Computer skill : Good understanding of basic computing, including the Microsoft suite
# Knowledge of PMB would be helpful.

The non-profit organization Toutes a l'école, founded in 2005 put in place a high level education for underprivileged girls. In 2006, we opened Happy Chandara pilot school, located 12 kilometers away from Phnom Penh in Cambodia. It currently welcomes 1300 pupils (primary school secondary school, high school, and in a vocational training center). Happy Chandara's mission is to prepare and accompany the students until they find their first job.
