Details of Position

About us

Oxford Summer Courses was established by a network of Oxford alumni determined to share the magic of the university and the city with the wider world. Although Oxford Summer Courses isnt part of the university, Oxford is at the heart of everything we do. It shapes what, where and how we teach.

We started a summer school for bright international students in 2010 which is set to welcome over 1700 students to Oxford in 2018. Our team is a mix of Oxford alumni and Oxford locals, who together oversee the preparation for the busy summer months when a tutorial team of 120 and pastoral team of over 170 will join us to deliver our courses.

About the role

The role of English language tutor is to deliver an interesting and engaging timetable of lessons on one of our two courses: Key Skills or Academic IELTS. Students attending our courses will be aged 10-12 (Wycombe Abbey only), 13-15, 16-17 or 18-24. You can indicate which age group you would prefer to work with and have experience teaching when you apply. Students are taught in small groups of up to 8.

Youll report directly to the Course Manager who is responsible for monitoring the quality of teaching and taking feedback from tutors.

If you are a lively, inspiring teacher passionate about teaching English to international students then we want to hear from you.

Main Duties

Planning the content of the course according to learning objectives and desired outcomes outlined in the syllabus, which will be determined by the Course Manager.

Completing a feedback form on the course and students as instructed by the Academic Programme Coordinator.
To liaise regularly with the pastoral team and Course Manager; to keep them informed of any student issues or needs that arise.
