Job Summary

We are currently recruiting residential and non-residential EFL Teachers and Teacher/Activity Leaders to join our friendly summer school teams.
We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible EFL teachers for our British Council accredited Young Learner Courses running in Oxford, Cambridge and Reading.
Contracts are available from two to eight weeks, starting in June.

Details of Position

Oxford Spires Language School is a small but growing language school that runs junior summer EFL programmes in Oxford, Cambridge and Reading in addition to short-term programmes year-round. Students attending our summer schools receive 15-21 hours of EFL tuition per week and participate in a busy social programme which includes afternoon activities and two full-day excursions each week.
Details of Position
We are currently looking for qualified EFL Teachers to deliver engaging lessons to a high professional standard to junior learners, whilst promoting the safety and wellbeing of all students.
Key duties:
Teaching and Activities
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, communicative, and appropriate EFL lessons and workshops following the weekly themes, using materials provided and/or your own resources
Deliver and oversee weekly placement testing, including marking, for all new students
Deliver pre-planned activities and excursions for groups of language students, both on and off-site
Depending on centre, deliver and oversee evening activities (on a rota) and full day weekend off-site excursions (1 per week)
Attend weekly meetings with all teaching/activity staff to review weekly teaching plans and aims
Communicate regularly and effectively with fellow teaching/activity staff and the Senior Teacher and Senior Activity Leader to ensure that all students receive equal high standards of tuition
Complete training as required and attend professional development sessions where appropriate
Complete any necessary paperwork relating to the role
Ensure student attendance and participation in activities, and keep an accurate attendance record for all on and off-site activities
Ensure that you have read and fully understood risk assessments and company policies before delivering activities
General Duties
Staff are expected to attend training prior to employment (1 or 2 days, fully paid)
When required, assist with student supervision during break and lunch times
Oversee airport arrivals and departures as necessary
Help to maintain student behaviour, safety and welfare at all times
All staff have a responsibility for implementing Oxford Spires Language School policies and procedures, and representing the school to the highest standard
All staff are expected to assist with keeping the premises and company equipment clean, safe and in good order
Undertake other duties, appropriate to your post, as may reasonably be required by Oxford Spires Language School
Essential requirements
CELTA, CertTESOL or equivalent qualification
Excellent spoken and written English language skills
Genuine interest in the teaching and welfare of students
A flexible, co-operative and responsible attitude
Ability to work as part of a team, and also to use own initiative
A patient and understanding approach to teaching and the ability to create excellent rapport in the classroom
Outgoing and enthusiastic personality
All staff will be subject to safeguarding checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure
Previous experience of working with young people at an EFL summer school
Previous teaching experience in a multilingual classroom
DELTA, DipTESOL, PGCE or Masters in TEFL
First aid certificate
Full, clean driving license
Specific skills in areas such as sport, art and music
Reasonable level of fitness and knowledge of the rules and organisation of sports and games (for split role positions)
Up to 45 hours per week, on average, over 6 days per week
Weekend work required
Evening work may be required, depending on your centre
Some weeks you may be required to work in excess of 48 hours. You will therefore be asked to opt out of the 48-hour Working Time Directive
Hours tend to be longer for residential posts.

Salary and Benefits

£375.00 per week for residential posts - full board and accommodation provided
£450.00 per week for non-residential posts
A bonus of £10.00 per week for returning staff
Uniform provided free of charge
Paid training days before start of contract
Optional free Emergency First Aid at Work course
