Responsibility for the supervision, guidance and monitoring of teaching staff
Assisting where necessary with lesson preparation and being available to teachers for academic support
Providing regular lesson observation and feedback to teachers
Providing academic workshops

Details of Position

Kings Summer is a thriving division of Kings Education providing an excellent choice of summer residential locations for junior and adult students in the UK and the USA.
Students attending our summer schools receive a combination of English language tuition and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions.
We are now looking to recruit enthusiastic, professional responsible Directors of Studies in our Bath and Cheltenham summer schools locations for work starting in Late June/ Early July
The role of the Director of Studies is to organise, supervise, monitor and manage the implementation of the academic programme. The Director of Studies is also involved with some administration duties at centre.
Kings Summer is committed to ensuring the safeguarding of our students. All summer staff will be expected to adhere to our Child Protection policy. References(2 recent professional referees ) will be followed up, gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily and appropriate suitability checks will be required prior to confirmation of appointment. Applicants based overseas will be asked to provide evidence of a 'clean' local police check.
All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. We do not sponsor work permit visa applications.
All management staff will be required to attend pre course training
Main duties:

Timetabling of teachers appropriately according to strengths, skills and preferences
Responsibility for the supervision, guidance and monitoring of teaching staff
Assisting where necessary with lesson preparation and being available to teachers for academic support
Providing regular lesson observation and feedback to teachers
Providing regular academic workshops
Organisation and administration of classification and progress tests, student placements and subsequent class changes.
Updating of class registers
To carry out 24 hour emergency duty on a rota basis (2-3 nights per week)
To carry out administrative duties as directed by the Centre manager ( such as office duty, bank duty)
To ensure child safeguarding and welfare procedures are in place and adhered to
Liaison with the Centre Manager over student induction
Monitoring and recording student attendance
Monitoring and counselling of students on academic matters
Control and maintenance of teaching resources, books and audio-visual equipment and teachers resource room
Issuing and reacting to mid-course and end-of-course feedback questionnaires
Preparing academic reports on students for parents, etc. on request
Issuing of end-of-course certificates and special certificates for hard workers
Liaising with the Activities Coordinator regarding the excursion programme to ensure students are prepared in class for excursions
Coordinating group leader class observations and workshops
Willingness to contribute to and take part in the schools programme of sporting and social activities, excursions and transfers as required and appropriate
Acting as standby to provide cover in the event of staff sickness or emergency cover being required to cover teacher absence.
Teaching during weeks where student numbers are low.
Submitting regular specified academic paperwork to Kings Summer Management

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:
First Degree or equivalent (Level 6 qualifications and Credit Framework)
Trinity Diploma TESOL, DELTA or MA Linguistics/TESOL, incl. 5 hours supervised teaching practice level 7 qualification)
Proven organisational/administrative skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and adaptability as regards working hours and duties
Strong leadership qualities and the ability to inspire/enthuse others
